Miley Cyrus' Boyfriend & Dating History
All of us know who Miley Cyrus is. She was the star of Disney Channel's Hannah Montana. She's released banger after banger in her 10 years in the music industry. And her dad is, you know, Billy Ray Cyrus. What's more secretive is Miley Cyrus' dating history, which has been hush-hush since she entered the spotlight more than a decade ago. Most of us know Miley as the longtime girlfriend, then fiancé, then wife of Liam Hemsworth. The two, who dated on and off for about 10 years (more on that later), split in August 2019. Since then, Miley has had several high-profile relationships. And while the Disney Channel alum was in a longterm relationship for most of the time we knew her, there wee some off periods from Liam where she had brief flings with other stars. With more than 20 years in the biz, it may be hard to keep track of Miley's dating life. She is one of the most written-about stars in Hollywood. Ahead, we try to trace her dating history, from the first moment she met Liam Hemsworth on the set of The Last Song to her 2020 relationship with Cody Simpson. As Miley's fans know, the 'Wrecking Ball' singer is one of a kind. So who is Miley Cyrus dating now? Read on to find out. Miley was linked to musician Maxx Morando after her fling with Cody Simpson. The former drummer of The Regrettes was spotted with the Bangerz singer at Gucci's Love Parade runway show, which took place in November 2021. E! News confirmed their relationship status in October. 'Miley and Maxx are still going strong and their relationship is very serious,' an insider source revealed. 'They have been together for about a year now and Miley is really happy.' They added, 'Everyone in her family loves them together and thinks they mesh really well.' Another source told Entertainment Tonight, 'Miley and Maxx have been having a good time together,' the source tells ET. 'They've been together for a little while and are just enjoying their relationship. Miley likes the fact that they are low-key as a couple and is just focused on doing her thing and being around people that make her happy, and Maxx does that.' Another insider revealed that the two are madly in love. 'They are both artistic and creative, so they bond over being musicians,' and did confirm he joined her at her 2023 NYE party, saying, 'He was backstage with Miley and Pete [Davidson] at the New Year's Eve rehearsals and taping having a good time with them. They were are all super friendly with one another and seemed to have a great night. A source recently told Us Weekly that the two really enjoy having a private relationship. 'Everyone close to Miley says Maxx brings out the best in her,' the insider said. 'They make a lot of sense as a couple.' Miley and Cody were longtime friends before they started dating in October 2019 after her split from Kaitlynn and Liam. The 'Malibu' singer confirmed the relationship with a shirtless photo of Cody with the tweet: 'Get used to me dating – this is where I am at !' Miley confirmed that she and Cody had split in August 2020. 'But, for right now, two halves can't make a whole and we're individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be,' she said on her Instagram Live at the time. 'Like everybody else at this age, we're just deciding who we wanna be with our lives, what we wanna do with our lives. And so, don't make it some drama story if next week we're out hanging out or getting pizza. We've been friends for 10 years and we're gonna continue to be friends.' Kaitlynn was Miley's first public relationship after her breakup with Liam. The two sparked romance rumors in August 2019 (days after Miley announced her divorce from Liam) after they were photographed kissing in Italy. The two dated for a month before splitting in September 2019. Miley also dated Patrick in between her relationships with Liam. The two started dating in 2014 but split a year later after Schwarzenegger was photographed doing body shots on a mystery woman, according to Us Weekly. The two eventually reconciled before splitting for good in April 2015. In between her breakup and makeup with Liam, Miley dated Kellan. The two had a short romance in late 2013. A source told Us Weekly at the time that Liam wasn't bothered with Miley's fling with his friend. 'It doesn't hurt that he's Liam's pal,' an insider told the magazine at the time. 'They really enjoy each other's company.' Liam is Miley's big relationship. The two met on the set of The Last Song in 2009 in which they both starred. The two broke up in 2010 and reunited a month later. Liam and Miley were then engaged in 2012 when Liam proposed to Miley with a 3.5-carat ring from Neil Lane. 'I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,' Cyrus told People at the time. A source told People the engagement had the blessing of Miley's family. 'Billy Ray loves Liam. He's happy his daughter has found the right guy,' the source said, adding that Hemsworth has spent a lot of time with her family, barbecuing together. 'The whole family loves Liam.' However, the two called off the engagement on September 2013. Months earlier, rumors came out that the Hannah Montana alum and the Hunger Games star split. Miley dispelled the rumors by saying, 'I am so sick of La. And sick of the lies that come with it,' she posted. 'I didn't call off my wedding. Taking a break from social media. #draining' The Independence Day: Insurgence star and the Bangerz singer reunited in January 2016, resuming their engagement less than a month after. Miley and Liam were wedded on December 26, 2018. In a now-deleted Instagram post, they confirmed the wedding, 12.23.18' and '10 years later …..'Miley captioned the post. In the photo of them kissing, the singer wrote: 'This is probably our one–millionth kiss.' Less than a year later, Liam made a post on Instagram about his separation from Miley. 'Hi all, Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love' Miley's rep confirmed they had separated. 'Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,' the rep said. The rep continued in the statement: 'Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.' Liam filed for divorce in August 2019. In one instance in an interview with Howard Stern, Miley also revealed that she didn't think she and Liam would ever tie the knot. 'We were together since 16,' she said. 'Our house burned down. We had been like, engaged—I don't know if we really ever thought we were actually going to get married, but when we lost our house in Malibu—which if you listen to my voice pre- and post-fire, they're very different so that trauma really affected my voice. And I was actually in South Africa, so I couldn't come home, and like, my animals were tied to a post at the beach. I lost everything.' The divorce was finalized on February 22, 2020. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2020, she revealed that the Malibu house fire 'did what I couldn't do myself'. 'It removed me from what no longer was serving its purpose,' she told the magazine. 'And then as you drown, you reach for that lifesaver and you want to save yourself. I think that's really what, ultimately, getting married was for me. One last attempt to save myself.' The Bangerz singer denied the cheating rumors when she was fresh out of the divorce. In August 2019, she tweeted, 'The truth is, once Liam & I reconciled, I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here. I've learned from every experience in my life. I'm not perfect, I don't want to be, it's boring. I've grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP. I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I've said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will.' She continued, 'BUT at this point, I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time. You can say I am a twerking, pot-smoking, foul-mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar.' On January 13, 2023, which is Liam's birthday, Miley released the song 'Flowers' which is speculated to be about their relationship. Pop culture Twitter PopTingz claimed that the set of the music video was where Hemsworth allegedly cheated on Cyrus with 14 women. 'The house where the music video for Miley Cyrus' 'Flowers' was recorded was previously used by Liam Hemsworth to cheat on Miley with more than 14 women while they were married,' the account tweeted, but the tweet itself is unverified. The tweet went viral with more than 40,000 likes and 10,000 retweets, however it's not confirmed whether he actually cheated on the singer with 14 women. Her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation is filled with stories about a cheating partner, which lots of fans are speculating that it's about Liam. In 'Muddy Waters,' The lyrics are pretty blunt about her anger towards a partner who is guilty of cheating. 'I don't know / Who the hell you think you're messin' with / Get the f*ck out of my house with that sh*t / Get the f*ck out of my life with that sh*t.' She later sings, 'And you smell like perfume that I didn't purchase / Now I know why you've been closing the curtains / Get the f*ck out of my house.' Miley hasn't verified the reports that it's about her ex Liam Hemsworth, but like 'Flowers' it kind of heads in that direction. 'Muddy Waters' even slyly references another type of flower: 'You've watered the weeds and you killed all the roses.' Miley and Nick dated from June 2006 to December 2007. As fans remember, Miley and Nick, who were both 13 at the time, were stars on the Disney Channel when they dated. Nick's band, the Jonas Brothers, also opened for Miley on her Best of Both Worlds Tour toward the end of their relationship. 'It seemed like my life was over, but everyone still living,' Miley wrote about the breakup in her 2009 book, Miles to Go. One of Miley's most well-known songs about her relationship with Nick is her 2008 single, '7 Things.' In the music video, she even showed a photo of her and the JoBro. The two reunited years later to duet on the Jonas Brothers song 'Before the Storm.' Dylan revealed in a 2008 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he dated Miley for a hot second—a.k.a. one day—when he was around 11 or 12 years old. 'We met at her set, I believe, and we dated. And then Nick Jonas walked by and it was over,' he joked at the time. Miley had a puppy-love romance with Tyler in 2000 after they met on the set of her dad's show, Doc. As Tyler revealed in a past Entertainment Tonight interview, Miley was his first kiss when she was 7 and he was 9. 'We were so damn young…I would get excited when we would hold hands,' he told ET. The physics that keeps a crowd from becoming a stampede
Every July, at the opening ceremony of the San Fermín festival signaling the imminent start of the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, more than 5,000 people cram into the city's central plaza. Participants have described the raucous crush of people to Denis Bartolo, a physicist at the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon, France, who hasn't dared step foot in the plaza himself. 'It's not just that you're feeling uncomfortable,' he said he'd been told. 'It becomes painful like you can feel pressure on your chest.' Over several years, he studied the event hoping to one day help prevent stampedes that can turn lethal in large events. In a paper published in the journal Nature, Bartolo, and his colleagues say it may be possible to predict the spontaneous motion of a large crowd once the density of people crosses a critical threshold. Bartolo's team mounted cameras on the balconies of two buildings and found that the crowds turned out to be less chaotic than they might have otherwise appeared. Within the sea of people, circular oscillations were detected. 'We are talking about hundreds, if not thousands, of people, all following the same circular trajectory in sync,' Bartolo said. In addition, the orbital motions, in which each person traces out a rough circle from their starting point in the crowd, took 18 seconds to complete in this particular plaza. The team then examined surveillance footage of the 2010 Love Parade in Duisburg, Germany, where 21 died in a stampede, and detected the same oscillations emerging just before the stampede. The researchers found that above a certain density, these movements emerge spontaneously. They don't depend on some internal or external force, such as people actively pushing one another. Bartolo suggests monitoring crowds for these motions. Detecting them can offer wa arning of danger ahead. By catching oscillations when they're small, event organizers could ask the crowd to disperse or stand still, before the orbits grow in size and lead to people being crushed or trampled. Crowds can suddenly turn deadly. New research has clues that could prevent disaster.
Crowds can suddenly turn deadly. New research has clues that could prevent disaster. Watching a concert or a sports event alongside thousands of other people can be both exhilarating and dangerous, and researchers now have new theories about how people behave when they get too close together. Crowd crushes have proven to be deadly in recent years. At the 2021 Astroworld festival in Texas, 10 people were crushed to death. In 2010, nearly two dozen were killed as a crowd stampeded at the Love Parade, a techno-music festival in Duisburg, Germany. More than 150 died during a 2022 Halloween crowd surge in Seoul's nightlife district. And hundreds were killed outside Mecca in a stampede during the annual hajj pilgrimage in 2015. In a new study, researchers analyzed the movement of thousands of spectators attending the San Fermín festival that precedes the start of the Running of the Bulls each year in Pamplona, Spain. Starting in 2019, the team set up cameras each year at the festival, which draws more than 5,000 participants dressed in white to the Plaza Consistorial where people drink and dance until the crowd is too packed for them to move, according to the paper published Wednesday in the journal Nature. Typically, according to study author François Gu, researchers studying crowd movements try to track each individual to build their models but his team studied the crowd as one free flowing unit, like a gel. Using this method, Gu and his colleagues determined that every 18 seconds, sections of the crowd about 500 people strong unwittingly found themselves traveling in the same direction and making a circle. To determine if this phenomena repeated itself in more dire situations, the team then analyzed video of a crowd at the 2010 Love Parade,. Researchers found similar dynamics occurred before the stampede. Crowd surge: 10 people died at the Astroworld music festival in 2021. What happens now? These circular motions are likely the result of people moving sideways to avoid being pushed by the tens or hundreds of people around them, said Gu, a physicist at the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon, France. "So at some point, the whole crowd is gonna turn into on the right, on the left, and this creates this kind of oscillations," he said. Researchers only observed this phenomena in highly dense, confined crowds and how long the oscillations took depended on how long people were confined, said Gu. But once a crowd reaches a critical density, people spontaneously get very active which can be "very dangerous," Gu said. This increases the amplitude of the orbital motions ‒ meaning how fast and far people are walking in circles. Gu said its possible to detect this uptick up to 20 minutes before it occurs. Though it is hard to pick up on these movements from inside the crowd itself, he said outside observers could replicate his methodology during an event. "So our work can act as a detector of catastrophes," he said. But what's dangerous isn't the crowd itself, he said, its their uncontrolled motion. Even with what he's learned about crowd dynamics and the potential for disaster, Gu still recommended visiting the San Fermín festival. "A crowd can be dense, but can be also safe," he said.
