2 separate crashes occur in same vicinity of I-70 on Saturday afternoon
DENVER (KDVR) — Westbound Interstate 70 near Deer Trail is closed for investigation on Saturday afternoon, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The closure occurred because of two separate crashes. Neighbors evacuated after truck crashes into home in Loveland The first of the crashes involved a 33-year-old male motorcyclist from Loveland, who troopers said veered off the left-hand side of the interstate before being 'struck by a guardrail.' The man was ejected from his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Troopers said a secondary crash also occurred, although it was not mentioned if the two were connected or in response to the other. The second crash occurred between a Jeep and a Ford Ranger. One of the parties was transported to the hospital, and the extent of their injuries is unknown. The causes of each crash are under investigation, with investigators actively in the area, according to CSP. The westbound lanes of I-70 are closed, and alternate routes are advised. Neighbors evacuated after truck crashes into home in Loveland
DENVER (KDVR) — Residents of a neighborhood in Loveland were evacuated from their homes overnight after a pickup truck driver crashed into a house and caused a leak. The crash happened overnight on East 23rd Street, Loveland Fire Rescue said in a post on Facebook. Firefighters arrived on the scene and all occupants of the house and truck were outside. FOX31 Newsletters: Sign up to get breaking news sent to your inbox Medical personnel with Thompson Valley EMS evaluated the occupants of both the house and the truck on the scene. Loveland Fire Rescue provided images of the crash scene. The truck appeared to have crashed into and made a hole through a brick wall on the side of the home. Several emergency units responded to the scene The crash caused a significant natural gas leak from the house, LFR said, prompting an evacuation of some neighboring homes. The agency said that the leak was not able to be controlled, so as a precaution, firefighters positioned fire attack hose lines and secured a water supply. Emergency crews from Xcel Energy responded and stopped the leak by digging up the line and clamping it off, a process that took several hours. LFR said fire crews from Berthoud and crews from the city of Loveland also responded. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Loveland councilwoman only person not issued a summons in verbal altercation at park
LOVELAND, Colo. (KDVR) — A Loveland city councilwoman will not face charges after an incident and a heated exchange at a park in late March. No recommended charges — that's the determination for Erin Black after the Larimer County Sheriff's Office completed its investigation into an incident and verbal altercation at a local park, which FOX31 first brought you in April. In the video taken at the park, you can see Black holding an umbrella and waving it around while yelling expletives. Loveland police requested LCSO to investigate because of Black's position on the council. Colorado Parks and Wildlife kills grey wolf in Pitkin County after attacks on livestock LCSO issued a summons for: Lynn St. John (DOB 11/19/1953) – Harassment (class 1 misdemeanor) Alan Kujawa (DOB 09/18/72) – Harassment (class 2 misdemeanor) Campbell Kujawa Black (09/09/04) – Harassment (class 2 misdemeanor) Dillon Kaiser (DOB 01/21/83) – Harassment (class 2 misdemeanor) Alan and Campbell are Black's husband and son. Kaiser is the person who took the viral video. The meet-up prompted by Black was with Kaiser, who has been outspoken on his beliefs online and has said he's had issues with Black in the past. Councilman Dana Foley was shocked by the outcome. 'It is shocking that someone can present what was presented on the video and not be held accountable,' he said. He was one of the seven 'yes' votes in a 7-1 vote for a motion asking Black to resign in the first council meeting after the incident. Black was also asked not to attend in person to any meeting until the investigation was complete. She has honored that, but has not stepped down. Foley said it may not be over on their side just yet. 'There is a possible additional charge opportunity that could come from the municipal side of things,' he said. It could be politically motivated, with Larimer County District Attorney being endorsed by Black. Foley told FOX31 charges were recommended for Black, but didn't happen. 'It's my understanding that the sheriff's office actually recommended that charges be filed against councilor Black, but my surprise happened when the district attorney's office didn't follow through,' Foley said. It has all caused a stir in the city with multiple protests outside of city hall and a grassroots recall effort that's in the works, which Foley said he's heard is doing well. They have until late June to turn in their petition. Parker police use drone to find child who didn't return from playground Kaiser sent FOX31 the following statement regarding the summons. 'I was told by the sheriff's office I wasn't under investigation and that four people had been submitted to the prosecutors office for charges. At roughly the same date, Loveland city attorney Vince Junglas announced to the Reporter Herald that he contacted the district attorneys office on Mrs. Blacks behalf to 'facilitate the flow of information' but was not acting as her attorney at the time. Erin also endorsed the District Attorney Gordon McLaughlin, creating a conflict of interest in the case, yet after bringing it to the sheriff's attention, the investigation continued. It's interesting how one phone call from the city attorney to the district attorney, and the victim becomes the defendant. The instigator becomes innocent, and justice goes out the window. I don't believe anyone should be above the law, apparently the district attorney believes otherwise,' said Kaiser. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Canadian announcer said he was hit with a chair during a minor league hockey game in Colorado
American Hockey League announcer Brandon Astle said he was hit by a chair by a fan while calling a Colorado Eagles playoff game in Loveland. His call was caught during the broadcast of the Eagles and Abbotsford Canucks game on Monday night at Blue Arena. Astle is the play-by-play voice of the Abbotsford Canucks. After a thud is heard, Astle said "got some yahoo chirping at me from behind. Get out of here! What was he doing? Security! Try that again ... I'm fired up. He threw my chair at me, hit me right in the back of the leg. Like, what was he doing here? Unreal. Have another beer." The Eagles would go on to lose the game 5-0 and the Pacific Division Finals series of the Calder Cup playoffs to Abbotsford on Monday. The Colorado Eagles are a professional minor league hockey team. They were founded in 2003. Since 2018, they've been an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. That's also when the team moved to the AHL from the ECHL. The Eagles have yet to win the Calder Cup since making that move.
