House in Lowville saved after efforts by homeowner, crews
LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWTI) – Quick work by a home owner and fire crews helped save house from being seriously damaged.
According to the Lowville Fire Department, they were dispatched just after 10:20 a.m. Saturday morning to a residence on Stowe Street. When crews responded, they saw a home with an attached garage on fire.

Fire officials said that the homeowner was already combating the flames with a garden hose when firefighters arrived. Crews quickly extinguished the flames within five minutes of arriving on the scene.
An investigation found that the fire started after some oily rags in a trash can spontaneously combusted.
The contents inside of the garage were damaged. However, the house and its occupants were unharmed.
