Belarus and India explore textile synergies as Bellegprom visits Mumbai

A delegation from Belarus, led by Bellegprom's chairperson of concern Tatiana Luhina, visited the National Institute of Fashion Technology Mumbai to explore potential collaborations in the fashion and textile industries and celebrated cross-border cooperation at an event in Malabar Hill. Khushal Jangid, director of NIFT Mumbai, welcomed the three-member Belarusian delegation alongside senior academics, department heads, and academic coordinators, Apparel Resources India reported. The visit marked an important step towards strengthening the institute's global ties in textile education and research. During an interactive session, Patricia Sumod, head of international and domestic linkages, presented an overview of NIFT Mumbai's academic programmes, teaching methodologies, alumni achievements, placement records, and international outreach activities. Tatiana Luhina highlighted the latest trends in Belarus' textile sector, noting its growing focus on innovation and sustainability. Luhina also commended NIFT Mumbai's contributions to the global fashion industry and expressed a keen interest in fostering structured academic exchanges and collaborative projects between NIFT and Belarusian universities. Discussions centred on potential programmes for faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and academic-industry collaborations. Through their interactions with the faculty, the Belarusian delegation shared insights into opportunities for cross-cultural learning and innovation in textile research and education, underlining the shared commitment to advancing sustainable and creative practices in the global textile landscape. On April 23, Luhina joined the Consul General of Belarus in Mumbai Aliaksandr Matsukou and the Government of Maharashtra's minister of protocol Jaykumar Rawal for an event at Sahyadri Guest House in Malabar Hill, Government of Maharashtra protocol officer Milind Hardas announced on Facebook. The event was designed to foster cross-border cooperation in textiles, innovation, and sustainability.
