TV Host Tried To Eat 'Hottest Chicken Wings' On Live TV And Wow Did It Not Go Well

A British TV host laughed off warnings as he attempted to eat what are supposed to be the nation's hottest chicken wings. A few minutes later, he wasn't laughing anymore. ITV Racing's Luke Harvey ordered the wings from the Yuzu stand at the racetrack last week, and declined the gloves and eye protection offered. 'They can't be that hot,' he said and then bit into the chicken. Within seconds he was in obvious pain, gagging as the Yuzu workers chuckled. He fled to the nearby tables and took what seemed like someone else's beer. Any relief was fleeting. 'I'm going home,' he said. He started to walk off, but then doubled over in pain again: Maybe this was a mistake 🥵😅The hottest chicken wings in Great Britain LIVE on ITV#ITVRacing | @ — ITV Racing (@itvracing) May 15, 2025 Harvey told The Mirror that he thought taking a bite of the wings would be 'a bit of fun' 'I thought my tongue was going to fall off, it was so hot,' he said. 'It was nice tasting, just bloody hot.' Harvey admitted to the newspaper that the beer part of the bit was staged ― but he didn't realize just how much he would actually need it when the time came. 'When I went to grab my Guinness, he wouldn't let me have it!' he said. 'I ended up yanking it off him and he literally gave me a death stare afterwards.'

ITV presenter downs Guinness after eating Britain's hottest chicken wings

Luke Harvey agreed to taste the wings while he was broadcasting at York races for ITV in a hilarious segment which has now gone viral ITV Racing broadcaster Luke Harvey has described what it was like to try out Britain's hottest chicken wings. The plucky presenter is often deployed to provide the lighter moments when working for the network at the races. His latest appearance has become a viral hit after he agreed to try out a serving of what were billed as 'the hottest chicken wings in Great Britain' at York on Thursday. After placing an order of the hottest dish on the menu at the Yuzu stand, Harvey was given a pair of gloves and warned he may need safety goggles and a fire extinguisher. ‌ The server returned with a box of Korean Fried Wings cooked with the caterer's signature hot sauce and topped with chillies. ‌ But after taking one bite, Harvey began to gag and headed off to the bar to find a drink. Approaching a racegoer with a pint of Guinness, he said: 'Oi, give me that'. Seemingly reluctant to part with his drink, Harvey had to snatch the glass away in order to cool his burning mouth. Presenter Ed Chamberlin chimed in, 'I think it's fair to say, pray for Luke', as Harvey told viewers, 'I'm going home". Since the clip was published on social media, it has received more than 1.4 million views. Speaking to Mirror Racing on Friday, Harvey said: 'They were meant to be the hottest chilli chicken wings in Britain. I took a big bite out of one for a bit of fun. I thought my tongue was going to fall off, it was so hot. It was nice tasting, just bloody hot.' ‌ Harvey revealed the incident with the Guinness was pre-arranged even though the scene did not come off as he'd expected. 'I had this idea to take someone's pint because I would need something to drink after eating this chilli,' he explained. 'I asked this guy if he minded if I bought a Guinness and then pretended to take his Guinness off him. ‌ 'When I went to grab my Guinness, he wouldn't let me have it! I ended up yanking it off him and he literally gave me a death stare afterwards. I've only been at the races for 20 minutes and everyone has been commenting about this guy, surprised I haven't got a black eye!' Harvey has been getting comments about the incident everywhere he has been in York since. He said: 'We were out filming in York town centre this morning and as we walked past a green grocers someone drove past and shouted, 'Do you want any chicken wings?! Then the bloke in the grocers came out and said he sells the chillies to the caterer! Social media has gone crazy over it.'

TV presenter downs stranger's pint and says 'I'm going home' live on air

While at York's racing event on Thursday, ITV presenter Luke Harvey caused a stir by nabbing and guzzling a punter's pint on live television. The odd episode unfolded during an interval between races as Harvey was tasting chicken wings from a local vendor, the heat of which he clearly underestimated, leading to quite the spectacle. Harvey bravely accepted two chicken wings advertised as potentially the fieriest in all of Britain, with the food stall seller even suggesting he wear rubber gloves due to their intensity. Opting against using the gloves might have been a misstep for the presenter, who looked foolish after he bit into the treat. Merely moments post-bite, the spice struck and Harvey lost any semblance of composure, buckling over and retching, eventually spitting the wing into a serviette and hastily leaving the awkward situation. The ex-jockey then bumbled into an area where racegoers were enjoying a tipple. Frantically approaching a group of lads, Harvey swiped at one bloke's beer exclaiming: "Oi, give me that." The man, visibly confounded and holding tight to his beverage, retorted to Harvey's intrusion by asking with an intense stare: "What are you doing?" Nonetheless, the pint was prised away and downed by Harvey, leaving the original bearer to observe, dumbfounded, as his drink was consumed, reports the Express. Harvey swigged a couple of times before leaving the glass half-full on the table and meandering over to another group of ladies. He warned them, "They [the wings] are hot. They are really hot, I'm telling you." After enduring a spicy ordeal and making quite a scene, Harvey addressed the camera, declaring, "I'm going home." He took a breather by a railing, gathering his wits, before exiting the frame. The incident led to mixed reactions from viewers, with some sympathising with the man who had his drink commandeered. @LeesBetting tweeted: "I hope he bought him another beer. I would have thrown it on him." @timboweebler joked about avoiding buying drinks: "Hope he didn't dodge his round on the Guinness," and @aaron53218049 observed: "The bloke looked like he was about to kick off until he saw the camera." @AjB2786 lamented high prices and queues: "It will be eight quid a pint and a 10 minute queue, no wonder he didn't want to part with it." Meanwhile, @aa1le1ab1 blasted the show: "The whole programme is embarrassing and not for actual punters." However, some found it hilarious, like @stestatter who posted: "Absolutely brilliant TV, can't stop laughing." And @1callpat praised Harvey's entertainment value: "What an entertainer. Luke has taken over Derek Thompson's niche as the man of all the people."
