Appeal to identify two women as investigations continue into death of Luke Jon Telega
Police have appealed for public assistance in identifying two women who may be able to assist investigations into the death of Tasmanian father Luke Jon Telega. The body of Mr Telega was found inside an industrial-sized bin behind a Salvation Army at Percy Street in Bellerive on Monday morning. His movements leading up to the heartbreaking discovery are now being pieced together by police. CCTV footage has revealed the 45-year-old caught a bus at Tollard Drive in Rokeby just after 4.30pm on May 30. A woman, dressed in a grey or white hoodie, is seen getting on the bus at the same time as Mr Telega, and then off again in the carpark of the Shoreline Hotel about 4.38pm. While he is on the bus, he is seemingly waved at by a second woman in a red top. 'There is no suggestion the women are involved with Mr Telega's death, but police believe they may be able to help with inquiries,' Tasmanian police said on Thursday. Earlier, police appealed to speak with a woman shown on CCTV footage standing at a shopfront on Percy Street about 7.50pm on June 1. Police believe the member of the public may have spoken with someone on the street at the time. She was driving what is believed to be a light-coloured Toyota Prado. Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

‘Forever grateful': Daughter of Luke Jon Telega shares heartbreaking tribute to father found in bin
The daughter of a man whose body was found in an industrial-sized bin has taken to social media to remember her 'best friend' as police continue to piece together the fateful night. Luke Jon Telega, 45, was found by a garbage contractor behind a Salvation Army store on Percy Street, Hobart about 9am on Monday. He was last seen by his children on Saturday night. 'Rest easy dad,' Harmony Telega shared in her heartbreaking tribute in the early hours of Wednesday morning. 'I know we weren't on speaking terms when you left this world. It was hard seeing you the way you were. 'You were the best father I could've ever asked for, my best friend. 'You helped me when I needed it with no questions asked you were always happy to spend time with me for no reason. 'I will for ever (sic) be grateful for you I love you so so much. 'I will forever pick you to be my father in every life time (sic). Until we meet again dad.' It comes as Tasmanian police continue to investigate whether Mr Telega was met with foul play or misadventure in the hours between his last sighting and his body being found. New CCTV footage has been released in hopes of identifying two people police believe may have information. Authorities would like to speak to a woman captured standing at a shopfront on Percy Street about 7.50pm on Sunday who may have spoken to someone on the street. She was seen driving what is believed to be a light-coloured Toyota Prado. A second woman, also seen on Percy Street at 8.05pm, was driving a red SUV. It is understood the bin the body was found in was frequented by people sleeping rough. It is not known whether Mr Telega, who was homeless, had been sleeping in it. Now his family are faced with finding the money to lay him to rest, with Harmony's friend Lily Hurst setting up a GoFundMe in support of the family. 'I'm trying to raise funds for my friend harmony telega as her father Luke telega past away suddenly and the family doesn't have the funds to be able to give Luke a funeral,' she wrote. 'Harmony and her family would love to give Luke the send of (sic) as he deserves but as funds are tight that isn't an option, if there is anyone that could please help with this tragic stressful time it would be very much appreciated every little bit will help so much.'

Man found dead in a bin behind a Salvos store is identified
A man who was found dead inside an industrial bin behind a Salvation Army store has been identified. Police were called to the scene in Bellerive, Hobart, at about 9am on Monday after a garbage contractor made the grim discovery. It's understood the bin was located at the end of the driveway behind a hairdressing salon and a Salvation Army Store on Percy Street. The garbage contractor initially thought the body inside the bin was a mannequin display. On Tuesday, detectives have since identified the deceased man as 45-year-old Luke Jon Telega. An autopsy performed on Tuesday revealed Mr Telega had no visible signs of injury. On Tuesday, Detective Inspector David Gill said police were keeping an open-mind as to the circumstances surrounding Mr Telega's death. 'Police continue to maintain an open mind and treat the death as a case of misadventure, or foul play, or a potential combination of both,' Det Insp Gill said. Police released pictures of Mr Telega, with the permission of his family, in a bid for more information about his movements in the lead up to his death. Mr Telega was last seen alive on Saturday at around 10pm when he was visiting his children. 'But there remains a gap in the timeline until the discovery of his body by a garbage contractor on Monday morning,' Det Insp Gill said. Det Insp Gill added people struggling with homelessness are known to frequent the area behind the shops on Percy Street. Mr Telega was known to police and had been homeless for at least several months. It is unclear if he was sleeping inside the bin. Investigators are particularly interested in Mr Telega's movements on Sunday - the 35 hours between when he was last seen and when his body was discovered. 'Detectives have today spoken with members of the public, conducted further door knocking of homes and businesses and reviewed CCTV footage,' Det Insp Gill said.
