Mother's Day events and deals at zoos in western Mass.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two zoos in Hampden County are offering special promotional deals on Sunday in celebration of Mother's Day. How to support those grieving on Mother's Day If your mom is an animal lover, the Forest Park Zoo in Springfield is giving mothers free admission on Sunday with the purchase of one child ticket. The zoo will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with admission ending at 3:30 p.m. Forest Park Zoo will provide the same deal on Father's Day for dads coming to visit on June 15, as well as a variety of additional events in the coming months. For more information, visit In Ludlow, Lupa Zoo is also recognizing moms in western Mass., with all mothers visiting the zoo on Sunday receiving a free gift and a large bag of animal feed. Lupa Zoo in Ludlow opens for the 2025 season
LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Lupa Zoo in Ludlow is kicking off the 2025 season with its opening weekend, welcoming animal lovers back to the facility Saturday morning. Agawam man to compete on 'Jeopardy!' next week This zoo officially opened at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, allowing guests to return to the 20-acre conservation institution. Among the many animals visitors can meet are zebras, camels, alpacas, lemurs, antelopes, and peacocks. Interactive play and learning spaces are located on the grounds for children to enjoy. Guests are also able to buy feed for select animals, enhancing the zoo experience for visitors of all ages. Lupa Zoo will be open to the public from April to November, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday. The zoo is closed most Mondays, but is open on Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day. Lupa Zoo is located on 62 Nash Hill Road in Ludlow. Ludlow to conclude 250th anniversary celebrations with ‘Last Night' event
LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – After a year filled with parades, fundraisers, and community gatherings, the town of Ludlow will mark the grand finale of its 250th anniversary celebrations with a special event, 'Last Night,' on Saturday, February 22. The all-day event at Ludlow High School will run from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and feature food trucks, live music, interactive entertainment, and a fireworks display to close out a historic year of festivities. A rain date is set for February 23. These Massachusetts educators are nominated for National LifeChanger of the Year Award Residents and visitors can look forward to a variety of activities for all ages. More than 70 artisans, crafters, and local authors will showcase their work, while families can enjoy character visits from Anna, Elsa, and Spiderman. Kids will also have the opportunity to participate in free crafts and take a ride on the 'roaming railroad.' Lupa Zoo representatives will be on-site with small animals for guests to interact with, and balloon artist and magician Ed Popielarczyk will provide entertainment from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Live music will fill the venue throughout the day, featuring performances by the CCG Band and the Kingdom of Jones Band. As the evening winds down, attendees can gather around a bonfire before concluding the celebration with a fireworks display at 6:00 p.m. The event will also bring together local organizations, including the Hampden County Sheriff's Department, mounted patrol officers, Ludlow Police and Fire, the Ludlow Health Department, and local Scouts. The Ludlow 250th Committee, led by Chairwoman Linda Collette, has organized a variety of events throughout the past year to honor the town's history, from holiday house-decorating contests to pancake breakfasts and festivals. 'We've seen incredible enthusiasm from the community throughout the year, and 'Last Night' will be a memorable way to bring it all to a close,' said Town Administrator Marc Strange.
