Troy man killed; another injured in weekend crash
PIKE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A deadly crash over the weekend in Pike County has killed a Troy man and sent another to a Wiregrass hospital.
Officials say James Thompson, 58, of Troy, was fatally injured when the SUV he was driving collided head-on with a truck driven by Robert Wise, 57, of Luverne. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene, while Wise was rushed to a Dothan hospital for treatment.
Officials say Thompson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The crash occurred on U.S. 29 near the 158-mile marker, approximately eight miles north of Luverne, in Pike County.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division will continue to investigate but does not plan to release any new information at this time.
