Craig Levein reveals triple heart bypass that had delirious former Hearts boss seeing the devil in hospital

Lveine suffered a heart attack while in the Tynecastle hot seat back in 2018 and had stents fitted as a result Craig Levein has revealed he's undergone a triple heart bypass. The former Hearts and Scotland boss suffered a heart attack while in charge of the Jambos seven years ago and had stents fitted then. ‌ But after noticing a shortness of breath and limited mobility when walking uphill, he went to get himself checked out again. ‌ Doctors gave him two options; have another five or so stents fitted or go for a bypass. And Levein, who was sacked as St Johnstone manager last year, didn't fancy the idea of more stents and opted for the bypass. Now he's back hosting his BBC Scotland podcast Sacked in the Morning along with Amy Irons, and says he''s feeling back to his old self. But he did admit that the number of drugs he was on during his stay in hospital meant he couldn't sleep and delirium caused him to see some fairly freaky things. "I was struggling to walk and breathe at times, if I was going up any hills," Levein explained. "It had to be done. They offered me more stents, something like five, and I was like, 'not for me'. ‌ "The other option was the triple bypass and it's been a good decision. I'm feeling really good. "I couldn't sleep - I was on about 14 different pills. I had delirium. I had no idea what was going on. "I woke up, and I'm sitting on my bed, and there's a nativity play going on, and there's kids running about. "And I swear, I think it's real. "Then I look across to the other side of the ward, and there's a cubicle, and the curtain's open, and the devil's in there.
