CBSE students dominate KCET top ranks
Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar announced the results of the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2025 on Saturday, and students from Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) dominated the top ranks. Announcing the results at the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) office here on Saturday, the Minister said, 'One grace mark has been awarded in physics and biology, for one question, two answers have been considered. In chemistry, two answers for two questions were considered.' 'KEA is ready for counselling, but we will wait for the NEET results to be announced,' he added. In the engineering stream, of the top 10 rankers, seven were from CBSE and three from the State's Pre-University board. This was the same case in veterinary and BSc Nursing. In Pharma-D and B-Pharma, 8 toppers were from CBSE and two from State board colleges. In BSc (Agri), State students managed to secure the top nine ranks. In Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, five students from both the boards secured ranks in the top 10. Students who secured the top ten ranks in all the streams were from colleges either in Bengaluru or Mangaluru. 'Compared to last year, the number of students cleared the II PUC science stream has witnessed a dip and that has impacted on the CET eligibility,' he stated. In 2024, as many as 2,46,744 cleared II PU Science stream in annual exam-1, but this year, that number has dipped to 2,31,461 in annual exam 1 and in annual exam-2, around 18000 cleared science stream, but not all registered for CET. Wrong entry by 10,000 students Despite creating awareness, at least 10,000 students have entered wrong data which delayed the results. For those who have not received their CET results because of errors in the entries, KEA will provide a link to upload the marks from May 26 and spot ranks will be issued to such students.
