Awareness rally marks World Sickle Cell Day at AIIMS
Awareness rallies and public engagement marked World Sickle Cell Day at All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Mangalagiri on Thursday (June 19).
The rally was organised by the institute in collaboration with the departments of Health and Family Welfare and Tribal Welfare.
Secretary to the Government (Social Welfare and Tribal Welfare) M. Mallikarjuna Nayak, who was the chief guest, underlined the government's commitment to eliminating sickle cell disease, aligning with the national vision announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Students, healthcare workers and tribespeople participated in the rally, which was aimed at enhancing public awareness and promoting solidarity in the fight against this inherited blood disorder.
Tribal Welfare Additional Director Saraswati, Guntur District Medical and Health Officer Vijayalakshmi, District Coordinator of Hospital Services Ranga Rao and AIIMS-Mangalagiri incharge Director Shreemanta Kumar Dash were among those present.
