In a statement, M. Narayanasamy, president of the Association said Puducherry had been recording temperatures in excess of 40 degree Celsius. Many children were taking ill due to extreme heat. Hence, the government should immediately declare a week's holiday for all schools in Puducherry region. The Association also urged the government to ensure availability of protected drinking water in schools and uninterrupted power supply.
