Missing MRSM student found safe in Terengganu
KUANTAN: A male student from MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Tun Abdul Razak in Pekan, Pahang, who was reported missing after leaving home without his family's knowledge yesterday, was found safe in Chukai, Terengganu, this morning. Pahang police chief, Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman, confirmed that 13-year-old Anas Baihaqi Miqdad Johari was located at a relative's house at 7am today. "Based on the report received at 4pm yesterday, we interviewed the student's family members. "At 7am today, the student was located at a relative's house in Chukai, Kemaman, Terengganu, and he is safe. "Therefore, the missing person case is now considered resolved, and further investigations will continue to determine how the student ended up in Chukai," he said. Yahaya made the remarks during a press conference after the Monthly Police Assembly at the Pahang police contingent headquarters today. Earlier, media reports revealed that preliminary investigations indicated the teenager had expressed reluctance to return to the hostel, as he found it difficult being away from his family. Before the incident, the boy's 41-year-old mother reported that her son was last seen at home around 3.30pm, before she realised he was missing approximately half an hour later.

Cops search for 13-year-old MRSM Pekan student who went missing after refusing to return to hostel
KUANTAN, May 5 — A student of the MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) in Pekan, Pahang, has been reported missing after leaving home, believed to be due to his refusal to return to the school hostel. Kuantan district police chief ACP Wan Zahari Wan Busu said the boy's mother, 41, realised her 13-year-old son, Anas Baihaqi Miqdad Johari, was missing at around 4pm yesterday. He added that, according to the boy's mother, she had seen her son at home at 3.30pm, but by the time she checked again, he was no longer in his room. 'The complainant also searched the residential area for her son but was unable to locate him,' he said in a statement today. The boy was last seen wearing a red T-shirt, black track pants, and Puma sneakers. Wan Zahari said the investigation revealed that the teenager had told his mother he refused to return to the hostel, as he did not want to be away from his family. He said the teenager was found leaving the house with his younger brother's mobile phone, which remained reachable but calls went unanswered, along with a school backpack and about RM200 in cash. SPM top scorer from foster family background gets Mara sponsorship to further studies
TANAH MERAH: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) will sponsor an outstanding student from a low-income family, Puteri Nur Ain Zulaikha Abdullah, 18, to pursue her studies either locally or abroad. Its chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Pengkalan Chepa student, who scored 9As in the recently announced Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), has been offered the opportunity due to her inspiring life story, having lived with adoptive families since she was a baby. "She was one of the recipients of Mara's Education Assistance Programme (Budi) during her two years at MRSM Pengkalan Chepa. "We also offer Mara's overseas sponsorship under the Young Talent Development programme for outstanding SPM achievers to pursue studies, either abroad or locally," he told reporters here yesterday. Asyraf Wajdi said the student and her guardian would also receive flight sponsorship from Tanah Merah Umno to attend the Budi-sponsored students gathering for SPM 2024 students who achieved straight As, scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur in two weeks. "I see a strong spirit and great potential in Puteri Nur Ain Zulaikha, and with her excellent results, Mara will help her to realise her dreams," he said. Meanwhile, Puteri Nur Ain Zulaikha expressed her gratitude for the offer, which would help her achieve her dream and passion in the field of Quantum Physics. "I aspire to further my studies in Quantum Physics in Japan. My interest in this field developed after I began reading and researching the subject. My SPM results are a gift to my foster family, who have sacrificed a lot to raise me," she said. She said that since birth, she has been cared for by four different foster families. Currently, she lives with her foster brother, Mohamad Airul Roslan, 35, and his wife Nur Fatihah Saad, 26, who sells fish to support the family. "Previously, I lived with my foster father. After he passed away, I was cared for by my foster grandmother. Two years later, she also passed away. "I was then taken in by my uncle for several years until my foster brother took over the responsibility as my uncle has many dependents and his wife is suffering from paralysis," she said. – BERNAMA
