Trump pardoned NBA YoungBoy. Now the rapper has added a 2nd Phoenix concert

Chart-topping rapper NBA YoungBoy, who recently made headlines when President Donald Trump pardoned him on federal gun charges, has added 13 shows to his highly anticipated 2025 MASA TOUR, including a second metro Phoenix concert. A new date has been added at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025. That's in addition to the previously announced show at PHX Arena on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025. The Louisiana rapper, also known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again, was serving a 23-month sentence for federal gun charges when he received a presidential pardon in May. The MASA Tour is short for the Make America Slime Again Tour. In December, a federal judge in Utah sentenced NBA YoungBoy to 23 months in prison on gun-related charges with credit for time served followed by 60 months of probation and an additional $25,000 fine after the Louisiana rapper acknowledged possessing weapons despite being a felon, agreeing to give up the guns. Before reaching a plea agreement, he was facing maximums of 10 and 15 years each on two separate gun charges — one for being in possession of two guns while filming a music video in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the other for having a semi-automatic pistol in his Utah home. In late March, the rapper was transferred from a federal prison in Alabama to halfway house in Phoenix. Officially released on probation in April, he received a pardon from President Donald Trump in May. NBA YoungBoy was taken into custody after a raid on his Utah home turned up a semi-automatic pistol in his bedroom and evidence pointing to his role in what prosecutors alleged was a large-scale prescription drug fraud ring. NBA YoungBoy has no No. 1 his. He has, however, topped the Billboard album charts with four releases — two mixtapes and two studio releases. Tickets to the second NBA YoungBoy concert will be available starting with an artist presale on Wednesday, June 4. The general on-sale will start at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6, at VIP packages, which include premium tickets, a behind-the-scenes backstage tour, an invitation to the pre-show VIP Lounge, a VIP gift pack and more, are available at Ed has covered pop music for The Republic since 2007, reviewing festivals and concerts, interviewing legends, covering the local scene and more. Trump pardons NBA YoungBoy ahead of prison release and 2025 MASA tour

Baton Rouge rapper NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, has been granted a full presidential pardon by former President Donald Trump, just weeks before his scheduled release from prison. The White House confirmed the clemency on Wednesday, May 29, making headlines across major outlets. Trump's decision also included pardons for eight other individuals, including ex-Congressman Michael Grimm and reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley. NBA YoungBoy was expected to be released in July 2025 under a plea agreement related to a gun possession case in Utah. The pardon means the rapper is free to move forward without the restrictions that would have followed his conviction. In a heartfelt social media statement, YoungBoy thanked Trump for the opportunity to rebuild. 'This moment means a lot,' he wrote. 'It opens the door to a future I've worked hard for.' He also expressed gratitude to criminal justice advocate Alice Marie Johnson, known as the 'Pardon Czar,' and his attorney Brittany K. Barnett for their efforts. The tour includes two back-to-back performances in his hometown at the Smoothie King Center on October 19 and 20. The pardon clears a path for the rapper to fully return to music and his fans, with many viewing the move as a significant moment for both criminal justice reform and the hip-hop community.

The MASA Tour 2025: NBA Youngboy's long-awaited comeback , born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, will kick off his arena tour on September 2, 2025, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The 27-city run concludes on October 19 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, bringing him full circle back to Louisiana. The tour marks his first full-length concert series in five years. Joining him on the road are special guests DeeBaby, EBK Jaaybo, and K3—a lineup fans are already buzzing about. Tickets go on sale to the general public on May 22, following an artist pre-sale. Speaking ahead of the announcement, Youngboy said, 'It feels good to be back in the spotlight and to finally perform for my fans after all this time.' His words reflect the significance of this tour, not just professionally, but personally. NBA Youngboy's legal troubles and road to redemption Though his music has never lost relevance, NBA Youngboy's life offstage has been dominated by courtroom drama. In an effort to escape the legal complications tied to his hometown of Baton Rouge, he moved to Huntsville, Utah, a place he once visited as a teen to see an AmeriCorps counselor who had mentored him. But even there, controversy found its way. In November 2024, Youngboy pleaded guilty to participating in a prescription drug fraud scheme run from his Utah home. According to a report by XXL, Youngboy is slated for release on July 27, 2025, just weeks before the MASA Tour begins. He will remain under 60 months of supervised release, adding a layer of scrutiny as he prepares for life back on the road. Despite these hurdles, Youngboy has kept fans engaged with new music. His latest single, 'Shot Callin',' gives listeners a taste of what's to come during the tour—and suggests that he's still got plenty to say. Also Read: 'I'm here to perform for my fans, and that's what matters right now,' he told reporters during the tour's reveal. Whether this marks a true turning point or just a pause in a turbulent chapter remains to be seen. But for now, fans can look forward to a powerful return from one of hip-hop's most complicated and compelling voices.
