Maserati back at Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters with exclusive MC20 Cielo 'Less is More…?'
For Maserati, April is synonymous with the red clay of the tennis courts. The Trident car manufacturer is taking part in the prestigious Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, for the fourth time in a row as main sponsor and official car of the tournament, bringing the elegance and performance of its cars to the service of international tennis. From 5 to 13 April, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2025 will take place at the renowned Monte-Carlo Country Club. At the event, the MC20 Cielo 'Less is More…?' – the new and exclusive One-Off and epitome of the most extraordinary production from the Fuoriserie customisation programme – will be on display on the tennis courts and in view of the international jet set in the VIP Village. MC20 Cielo 'Less is More…?' is a unique model specially built for a customer as part of the Brand's Fuoriserie Bespoke programme. This car, recently unveiled at the opening of the new Officine Fuoriserie Maserati in Modena, has a wealth of specifically designed features inspired by the Bauhaus art movement, with specially designed body colours. The exterior features geometries that run along the entire length of the car, from the front to the rear. The Blu Corse Matte bodywork is embellished with dots, lines, triangles and rectangles that form a stylised Trident on the bonnet. The succession of colours has been interpreted with a Maserati flair: the geometric shapes range from Rosso Capannelle Gloss, the shade used on the House of the Trident's first racing cars, to Giallo Avia Pervia Gloss, recalling the Modena emblem, and to Bianco Audace, the launch colour of Maserati MC20 in its matte finish, here proposed with a polished finish that uses meticulous manual details come in Azzurro Himmelblau and in Nero, while the most attentive will also recognize the presence of orange, the same Arancio Devil created to remember Maria Teresa De Filippis – the first woman to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix, having done so aboard a Maserati 250F – and Viola Salchi, taken from the customisation of a Ghibli SS Coupé. To complete the exterior, the MC20 Cielo 'Less is More…?' features 20' Corsa Forgiati Opachi wheels with Blue Classic brake callipers and an original combination of different colours in the profile and hubcap for each rim, whereas the specific badges and Trident logo come in white.

Maserati Opens Officine Fuoriserie for One-of-One Custom Supercars
Read the full story on Modern Car Collector Maserati has officially launched Officine Fuoriserie, a new personalization division inside its Modena headquarters, designed to deliver unprecedented levels of vehicle customization — including fully bespoke, one-of-one supercars tailored directly with the brand's designers and engineers. The Italian automaker announced the program this week, highlighting its two-tiered approach to personalization. The first tier expands the catalog of options available to customers, allowing them to choose from themed collections such as Collezione Corse, inspired by Maserati's racing pedigree, and Collezione Futura, which focuses on contemporary design and forward-looking materials. But for those seeking something truly unique, Maserati will now offer a full bespoke service. Clients can commission one-of-a-kind vehicles built to their exact specifications — from exclusive liveries and color schemes to one-off materials and trim elements, well beyond what's found on the standard options list. To showcase the scope of what's possible, Maserati unveiled the MC20 Cielo 'Less is More…?', a design concept deeply influenced by the Bauhaus movement. The matte Blu Corse convertible features an abstract geometric livery of dots, triangles, and lines, while incorporating heritage colors like Rosso Capannelle and Giallo Avia Pervia, paying homage to Maserati's racing legacy. Even the interior reflects the car's visual language, with contrasting trims and bespoke wheels. More than a design exercise, the program emphasizes relationship-building between the automaker and its customers. Projects can span years, with clients invited to work directly with Maserati's designers and engineers. 'This is not just personalization — it's co-creation,' a Maserati spokesperson said. 'We're building art, not just automobiles.' With Officine Fuoriserie, Maserati joins a growing list of luxury automakers offering bespoke services, but the brand's emphasis on legacy, artistry, and customer collaboration sets it apart in a competitive market. Driverless Maserati MC20 Hits 197 MPH At Kennedy Space Center
Maserati's MC20 supercar is the pinnacle of the brand's performance. The 621-horsepower supercar debuted in 2020 as a spiritual successor to the MC12 supercar from the 2000s, and since then the brand has gone on to create variants like the track-ready GT2 Stradale and the convertible MC20 Cielo. While the MC20 might not attract the buyers in ways that competitors like the Porsche 911 Turbo and Chevy Corvette Z06 have, it's still a halo car for the brand. That halo status was further cemented recently with an impressive showing of the MC20's performance and AI technology as part of the Indy Autonomous Challenge, the world's only active racing series for autonomous cars. In a combined effort with Italy's largest scientific technology school, Politecnico di Milano, and Italy's National Center for Sustained Mobility, Maserati set a new world speed record with a driverless MC20. With no one behind the wheel, the MC20 was able to hit nearly 200 mph in a controlled setting. Read more: IndyCar's $1 Million Exhibition Race At A Club Track Was A Ridiculous Attempt To Recreate The Worst Parts Of Formula 1 The basis for the driverless MC20 was an MC20 Cielo convertible. Using AI programming that was developed by PoliMOVE-MSU, an artificial intelligence team from the school, the autonomous MC20 was able to hit 197.7 mph at the Kennedy Space Center. Not only is that impressive for a driverless car and just a few ticks shy of the Cielo's 202-mph top speed, it's also a new world record, beating the previous record set in November 2024 by another driverless MC20 coupe at Piacenza Military Airport in Italy. During that run, the driverless car reached 177 mph. This new record also beats a previous driverless car record set at the Kennedy Space Center in 2022 when the IAC AV-21 race car hit 192.8 mph. Paul Mitchell, CEO of Indy Autonomous Challenge and Aidoptation BV, said the new record helps push the boundaries of what AI can do so it can be used in real-world driving. These world speed records are much more than just a showcase of future technology; we are pushing AI-driver software and robotics hardware to the absolute edge. Doing so with a streetcar is helping transition the learnings of autonomous racing to enable safe, secure, sustainable, high-speed autonomous mobility on highways. Maserati says a second driverless MC20 Cielo will drive around the U.S. as part of the 1000 Miglia Experience Florida. This MC20 has already driven nearly 40 miles autonomously in Italy, and the brand says it's now in the U.S. to showcase the "excellence of Italian research." Maserati echoed Paul Mitchell's statement in its announcement of the record, saying that this run helps further AI and driverless car research so it can be used in both production and motorsport applications. Could this all be the beginning of a new age of driverless car tech? It could be. It remains to be seen what benefit a driverless car going nearly 200 mph would be for the public, but if it helps improve Level 2 and Level 3 automated driving systems already in use, it'll be a win for sure.
