Scooter battery catches fire in Silver Spring apartment, firefighters say
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — A family was able to evacuate safely after a scooter caught fire in their Silver Spring apartment early Saturday morning. The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) was dispatched to an apartment complex at 3814 Bel Pre Rd. at around 3:55 a.m. Crews found a scooter on fire in a third-floor apartment unit. Man shot, killed in Prince George's County parking garage, police say Luckily, the large family living there was able to leave without being hurt, MCFRS noted. A family member told firefighters they heard a 'pop' and went to investigate, finding a scooter's battery had started to catch fire. Tour bus catches fire with multiple people on board in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — Multiple units were in a Park-and-Ride lot in Montgomery County after a tour bus went up in flames while more than 10 people were on board. The fire happened shortly before 10:45 a.m. in the 15800 block of Georgia Avenue, near MD-200, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesman Pete Piringer said. Allegany County Public Schools dismissing early due to potential flooding Piringer said nine bus passengers and the driver are safe, while one passenger was taken to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation and non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of a nearby Metrobus helped the people on the tour bus. As of 11:23 a.m., the fire had been put out. In a statement shared with DC News Now, Coach USA wrote: As it relates to the earlier fire on our MTA 201 bus, there were ten passengers and our bus operator when it happened. Our bus operator noticed an issue with a tire which then caused the fire. She was able to pull over safely contact the fire department, get all the passengers and their luggage out safely. She's currently in another bus with the passengers to bring them to their destination. The safety of our customers and team members is of paramount importance, and in this case our operator who's trained for these situations did exactly what was required in ensuring all concerned were safe. Pickup truck collides with building in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — First responders were at the scene of a collision that happened on Memorial Day in Montgomery County. In a social media post made at 1 p.m., Pete Piringer, a spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS), said a pickup truck had crashed into a housing complex in the 9900 block of Killarney Lane. 2 adults, 10 students injured in crash involving school bus in Silver Spring
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — Multiple people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning following a crash involving a school bus in Silver Spring. In a post on X just minutes before 8 a.m., David Pazos with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) said crews were sent to the intersection of Norwood Road and New Hampshire Avenue for a crash involving a school bus. Crews rescue 2 people, 2 dogs stranded in Potomac River in Montgomery County At least 20 students were on the bus when it crashed. Officials said 12 people, two adults and 10 students, were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) confirmed with DC News Now that the bus was headed to James Hubert Blake High School when the crash happened. No one was trapped as a result of the collision.
