(WJTV) – The Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service (Volunteer Mississippi), in partnership with the Governor's Office, announced the recipients of the 2025 Governor's Initiative for Volunteer Excellence (GIVE) Awards. These awards recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions of Mississippi's most dedicated citizens. Mississippi included in MICHELIN Guide American South 2025 GIVE Award Recipients First Lady's Youth Rising Star: Amelia Rose Cook, Madison and Joy Kitchens,Collinsville Marsha Meeks Kelly Award for Lifetime Achievement in Volunteer Service: LeolaWashington, Hattiesburg Volunteer of the Year: Cassie McDuffey, Jackson Volunteer Family of the Year: The Wetzel Family, St. Martin Veteran 'Hero in Service': Jung Tai, Meridian Innovation in Volunteerism: Extra Table Feeds, Hattiesburg Corporate Volunteer Champion: Ingalls Shipbuilding, Pascagoula Excellence in Disaster Volunteerism: Mennonite Disaster Service, MS/LA Unit The GIVE Awards will be held at the Craig H. Nielsen Auditorium at Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson on April 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 'Mississippi is comprised of selfless individuals who are truly committed to bettering our communities and lending a helping hand to our neighbors, wherever they may be,' said Suzanne Rutherford, executive director of Volunteer Mississippi. JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The MICHELIN Guide announced Mississippi has been included in the first North American regional edition titled MICHELIN Guide American South. The new guide includes six states – Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee – in addition to the pre-existing Atlanta Guide. The MICHELIN Guide is coming back to Atlanta, but with some new states added in

We all know that Atlanta has some of the best fine dining around, but less than 10 restaurants across the city have a MICHELIN Star. But that could soon change. On Wednesday, the MICHELIN Guide announced it's coming back to Atlanta for a third time, but this time it's spreading its forks and knives to find the best restaurants in the South with the MICHELIN Guide American South. The new Guide will name the best restaurants in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and the pre-existing Atlanta Guide. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] 'The cuisine of the American South is a unique product of diverse influences creating an iconic array of specialties prepared by proud and impressive culinary talent,' said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. The MICHELIN Guide's anonymous inspectors are already out in the field, testing restaurants without them even knowing. There's no date yet for when the full restaurant selection will be released.
