Death of teacher Kwan Fong is unrelated to loan sharks
Initial investigations revealed no incidents of paint splashing or threats directed at the victim. Kumarasan ISKANDAR PUTERI – The death of a female teacher, whose decomposing body was discovered at her home in Bandar Selesa Jaya on June 13, is believed to have no criminal elements or links to illegal money-lending syndicates. Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, stated that the deceased, Lo Kwan Fong, 39, had previously borrowed RM20,000 from loan sharks but had settled the debt. According to him, initial investigations revealed no incidents of paint splashing or threats directed at the victim. "The deceased had filed a police report, which was investigated under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951. "However, after settling her debt, no further police reports were made. "Her neighbours reported that no loan sharks came to splash paint on her house. The deceased also did not lodge any police reports after her debts were cleared," he said. He made these remarks during a press conference at the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters on Wednesday. According to Kumarasan, the body of Kwan Fong has yet to be claimed by her family. He clarified that police checks with the National Registration Department (JPN) confirmed that the deceased was an only child and that both her parents had passed away. "The police will consult the hospital again. After two weeks, the body will be handed over to Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) to appoint a private funeral company. "We were informed that the deceased has an aunt in Singapore, but so far, no information regarding this has been obtained. "According to neighbours, the deceased was a good teacher but not socially active in the community. "When found by the police, the victim's body was seated in the bathroom of her locked house,' he said. He also said that some parents of the deceased's students expressed willingness to assist with the funeral arrangements. On June 16, media reported that a female teacher was found dead in her home after neighbors noticed a foul smell from the house and filed a report at the Nusa Bestari Police Station at 8pm. Investigations revealed that the woman, who lived alone, was believed to have been dead for about a month. The woman was an only child and her parents had passed away several years ago. An autopsy conducted by a forensic specialist from HSA concluded that the cause of death could not be determined due to advanced decomposition.

80-Year-Old Man Spotted Riding Motorcycle Against Traffic On Johor Highway

A lorry driver spotted the elderly man at a main highway in Johor. He recorded part of the incident and posted it on his Tiktok account. Worried for the man's safety, the lorry driver can be heard shouting and honking to alert him that he was riding on the wrong side of the road. However, the man didn't seem to notice and continued riding. What made the situation even more concerning was that he wasn't wearing a helmet. Looking into the comments section, many netizens expressed concern for his safety. Some also alleged that the elderly man might be suffering from hearing and memory problems. As the video spread across social media, the police has been alerted and began investigating. According to Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, they were informed that the man, aged 80, was riding a blue Yamaha Lagenda against traffic for 700 metres heading north at Kilometre 24 of the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link Expressway (Linkedua). 'We successfully located him and brought him to the Iskandar Puteri District Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) to assist in the investigation,' he said in a media statement. Kumarasan stated that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which relates to driving recklessly and dangerously to the extent of endangering other road users. Suspect nabbed 3 hours after trying to rob 2 Chinese nationals

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Johor police arrested a 33-year-old man three hours after he attempted to rob a teenage girl and her grandmother at a house in Gelang Patah, Iskandar Puteri, yesterday. Bernama quoted Iskandar Puteri police chief M Kumarasan as saying the 14-year-old girl and her grandmother, in her 70s, both Chinese nationals, were at home at 11.30am when a man confronted them and demanded that they hand over their valuables. The man was then involved in a scuffle with his victims and fled empty-handed. 'Both victims sustained injuries and were referred to the hospital for treatment,' Kumarasan said. Acting on information received, a team from the Iskandar Puteri police headquarters' criminal investigation department, together with officers from the Tanjung Kupang police station, arrested a suspect at about 2.30pm. The suspect has two convictions for criminal offences. The initial urine test came back negative for drugs. The suspect has been remanded for seven days and is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt when committing robbery, an offence punishable by up to 20 years' imprisonment, a fine or whipping, if convicted.

Man in red Maserati making U-turn causes fatal crash on Johor's Second Link, enraged drivers beat him up
ISKANDAR PUTERI, May 10 — A 27-year-old man driving a red Maserati registered in the republic caused a fatal four-vehicle crash on the Second Link Expressway yesterday and videos of the incident are circulating on social media. The 7pm collision occurred at Km0.6 of the highway connecting Johor and Singapore as the driver attempted an illegal U-turn and slammed into the central divider, New Straits Times (NST) reported today. The impact sent fragments of the metal guardrail flying into the opposite lane, hitting a 26-year-old motorcyclist, the Malaysian newspaper reported. The motorcyclist crashed into the debris and was thrown onto the road shoulder. He suffered severe injuries to the head and legs and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash also caused the motorcyclist's storage box to be flung into oncoming traffic. Two other motorcycles then struck the box, but both riders escaped unharmed. Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the Maserati driver whom NST reported as a Singaporean, was attacked by several enraged motorists at the scene. 'They assaulted the suspect using a helmet before police managed to intervene,' he was quoted as saying by NST. He added that the luxury vehicle was also damaged in the scuffle. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death. It is also being probed under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon. Police are calling for witnesses to contact the district traffic or criminal investigation department at 07-5101322.

Johor van driver to face charge over death of kindergarten pupil left inside vehicle
KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — The school van driver detained in connection with the death of a five-year-old kindergarten pupil, who was allegedly left inside a van for over four hours in Taman Bukit Indah in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, last week, will be charged tomorrow. Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan said the 56-year-old male suspect is expected to be charged at the Batu Pahat Sessions Court, according to a report by Berita Harian today. He said the suspect had previously been remanded for seven days starting 1 May under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect and negligence involving a child. 'The suspect will be charged at the Batu Pahat Sessions Court tomorrow at around 9am,' he said today. ADVERTISEMENT On May 1, media reported that a five-year-old boy had died after he was believed to have been left inside a school van for more than four hours in Taman Bukit Indah. Kumarasan said the victim was found unconscious inside the van at around 12 noon on Wednesday. It is believed that the child was left behind in the vehicle after the driver dropped off other students at the school around 7.30am that same day. Following the discovery, police arrested a man who worked as a school van driver in the Taman Bukit Indah area at 2.40pm on the same day.
