MDIS Malaysia's Grand Open Day welcomes school leavers with inclusive education pathways
IN conjunction with the announcement of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2024 results, Malaysia International College (MDIS Malaysia) held its Grand Open Day on May 10 and 11.
The event drew a large crowd of school leavers, parents and education seekers to its International Campus in EduCity Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
Hosted on a grand scale, the event was designed to open doors for students of all academic levels, showcasing the institution's inclusive pathways, dynamic campus experience and state-of-the-art facilities.
MDIS Malaysia's Grand Open Day highlighted its commitment to providing quality and excellence in higher education accessible to all:
> Students with five SPM credits can enrol in a foundation programme and further progress to a UK (Honours) Degree.
> Those with three credits can start their education journey with a diploma.
> Students with one (1) credit can begin with a certificate course and progress to a degree programme.
All academic programmes – from certificate to UK Honours Degrees – are MQA-accredited and tailored to prepare students for high-demand careers in fields such as Business, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Media and Communications, Information Technology and Tourism and Hospitality.
'We are proud to offer students not only academic opportunities but also the support, learning environment, and exposure they need to succeed,' said MDIS Malaysia chief executive officer Sri Jaiandran.
'This Grand Open Day is a reflection of our dedication to accessible, industry-relevant education for all students – no matter where they are starting from.'
To encourage more students to take their first step into higher education, MDIS Malaysia is currently offering the following incentives for a specified duration:
> 50% discount on application fees*
> Rebates of up to RM5,000 on selected programmes*
> Up to 100% tuition scholarships for eligible students*
> Free on-campus accommodation*
* Terms and conditions apply
The Open Day featured interactive booths from all five academic schools, course briefings, and personalised consultations with academic advisors.
The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and other education loan providers were also present to guide families on financial aid options.
Visitors explored the 12.1ha campus via guided buggy tours, with fun treats – popcorn, freebies, lucky draws and local food stalls adding to the festive vibe.
MDIS Malaysia's affordable 3+0 UK (Honours) Degree programmes offered on campus in collaboration with the University of Sunderland, UK and the upcoming Teesside University, UK was well received by students on both days.
These programmes allow students to complete a full UK degree in Malaysia, with the degree conferred directly by the UK partner university – all at a fraction of the cost of studying overseas.
Tuition fees are paid in Malaysian Ringgit, and students may apply for PTPTN loans, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawals, or other study loans, reducing the financial burden on families and eliminating currency risks and travel expenses.
This option allows parents and students to save thousands of ringgits while earning a prestigious British qualification, and avoid currency exchange risks, international travel expenses and accommodation costs.
'We are not just offering courses – we are offering a launchpad to a successful future, irrespective of where a student begins,' said Sri Jaiandran.
'We are thrilled with the turnout and enthusiasm shown by the visitors. The Grand Open Day truly reflected the spirit of MDIS – holistic education, global perspectives and student-centric experiences,' said MDIS Malaysia chief operating officer Dr Eric Loh.
'Events like these help students make informed decisions about their future while experiencing first-hand the vibrant learning environment that awaits them.'
