MCC waives fees for Class XII topper from Dindigul
Chennai: M S Ooviyanjali from Dindigul , who scored 599 out of 600 in her Class XII exams, enrolled in a BA economics course at Madras Christian College , on Friday. The college announced that it would waive her tuition fees and provide her with free coaching for civil services exams. She scored a centum in accountancy, commerce, economics, computer application, Tamil, and 99 marks in English. She aspires to work for the Reserve Bank of India . "The BA economics course offers a great opportunity as an economics and finance degree will give a better chance to join RBI. I was informed that the MCC would provide better exposure, so I selected the college," Ooviyanjali told TOI. Ooviyanjali's father, Muruganandham, is an accountant at Oddanchatram market, and her mother, Shanthi, works with the rural development department. "Ooviyanjali joining the economics programme will inspire many more to consider a degree in economics. So, we have decided to waive her tuition fee and hostel room rent. We will also raise funds to support her through civil services coaching conducted on campus," said Paul Wilson, principal of MCC. The college also offers a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to develop leadership qualities among the stude. She did her schooling from kindergarten to Class XII at BVB Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Palani, Dindigul district.

TN Class XII state board students register 95% pass; Palani girl scores 599 out of 600 marks
MS Ooviyanjali from BVB School at Palani in Dindigul district secured 599 out of 600 marks. CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu state board Class XII students registered a 95% pass rate, a marginal improvement of 0.5% over the previous year. The results, released by school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, showed M S Ooviyanjali from BVB School in Palani scored 599 out of 600 marks. Ooviyanjali got centum in accountancy, commerce, economics, computer application, Tamil and 99 marks in English. She is interested in working for RBI after her graduation. Her father is an accountant at the Oddanchatram market, and her mother is an assistant in a Union govt office in Palani. Saathana R from Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Tambaram got 597 out of 600 marks with centum in English, physics, chemistry, biology and maths, while scoring 97 marks in Tamil. Of 7,92,494 students who appeared for the board exam from schools, 7,53,142 passed. Of the 4,19,316 girls, 4,05,472 cleared the exam, resulting in a pass percentage of 96.7%. The pass percentage for boys was 93.2%, with 3,47,670 out of 3,73,178 clearing the exam. The pass percentage of girls was 3.54% higher compared to boys. Of the 7,513 higher secondary schools, 2,638 schools registered a 100% pass rate. Of them, 436 were govt schools. Science stream students performed better than commerce students with a pass percentage of 97% against 92.7%. In arts and vocational subjects, students recorded 82.9% and 84.2% pass rates this year. Centum in physics, chemistry and maths recorded an increase, while the number of centums in commerce and economics decreased significantly. Computer science registered the highest number of centums with 9,536 students scoring full marks. While 135 students scored full marks in Tamil, the number of students scoring centum in English increased from seven last year to 68 this year. Ariyalur district achieved the top place with a 98.8% pass percentage, followed by Erode, which recorded 98%, and Tirupur with 97.5%. Chennai district achieved a 94.4% pass rate and was placed 23rd among the districts. Significantly, 130 out of 140 prisoners who wrote the exam passed. Of the 16,904 private candidates, 5,500 cleared the exam, while 7,466 of 8,019 differently abled candidates passed the exam. Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said that 10,049 students were absent for the exam. He urged all the absentees to write the supplementary exam scheduled to start on June 25.
