Palamu admin, NPU join hands to find solutions to challenges
Daltonganj: Palamu administration and Nilamber Pitamber University have joined hands to work towards holistic solutions for local ecological problems.
Deputy development commissioner (DDC) M Shabbir Ahmad on Tuesday met with vice chancellor, Dinesh Kumar Singh, to deliberate on issues of the management of rainwater, drinking water, forest, and environment.
"We sought suggestions for saving the rainwater that fall on the metallic roads like state highway and national highway. We asked the VC to engage their students of geology and other concerned departments to find out ways and means to use it for the benefit of the environment," said the DDC.
Palamu district has NHs 75 and 98, with a total length of a little over 220 km. The VC said they will mobilise their resources to brainstorm on the issue.
To address drinking water issue, both agreed on water survey by the drinking water and sanitation department for further action.
University is close to a dry zone, and hence the underground water table is under pressure from the mining of water. The two officers agreed to extract water without causing any potential danger to the underground water table.
