Tom Hanks Playfully Tells A Photographer To STFU

Tom Hanks is a hoot in front of the cameras. On May 28, at the New York City premiere of Wes Anderson's new movie The Phoenician Scheme, Tom had a little fun with the photographers for holding him up on the red carpet. Tom is starring in Wes's 12th theatrical film alongside Benicio del Toro, Bryan Cranston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeffrey Wright, and Scarlett Johansson. Tom playfully shouted at the camerapeople in a video shared by MTV UK. "Can you hurry it up so I can get to thse people?" he asked, possibly referencing the journalists waiting in the press line. "You and your cushy jobs." I've been on my fair share of red carpets, and Tom's right. We are waiting like hungry little fish for the talent to finish taking 1,000 photos so we can ask them hard-hitting questions like, "What's the most expensive thing you're wearing?" Next, the video cuts to Tom pointing at them and playfully shouting, "Shut the fuck up!" followed by a cheeky little smile. It's his little mischievous smile afterward. Tom's "STFU" moment immediately took me back to September 2024, when Chappell Roan made her MTV VMA red carpet debut. If you recall, when photographers kept shouting her name while she adjusted her dress, someone was heard saying loudly, "Shut the fuck up!" While it was unclear who the comment was directed at, Chappell yelled back, "You shut the fuck up!" Chappell later told Entertainment Tonight, "This is quite overwhelming and quite scary. I think for someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying. I yelled back. You don't yell at me." Chappell's heated interaction sparked an internet debate, making me wonder if Tom was privy to that exchange and his "STFU" was a callback. But that's pure speculation, of course. Either way, it was hilarious, and Tom's wild for that.

Tom Hanks Pulls a Chappell Roan As Oscar-Winner Shouts at Photographers During The Phoenician Scheme Premiere

Tom Hanks jocularly tells off photographers at the New York City premiere of his latest star-studded comedy, written and directed by Wes Anderson. Pop culture enthusiasts would be reminded of Chappell Roan confronting a rude photographer. Hanks brought his classic sense of humor to the red carpet at the premiere of The Phoenician Scheme on May 28, jokingly badgering photographers in a scene that quickly went viral. As he made his way down the red carpet, the 68-year-old star was beset on all sides by popping cameras and came to an abrupt halt. Irritated, but perhaps jokingly, Hanks shouted out to the snappers, telling them to hurry up so he could proceed down the line to interview waiting journalists. In a hilarious on-camera meltdown caught by MTV UK and posted on social media, Hanks mocked the press corps for their "cushy jobs." In the clip shared by the outlet on X, Hanks said, "Can you hurry it up so I can get to these people... You and your cushy jobs." Even at one point, he pretended to stormily shout for them to "shut the f--k up," all with a huge grin on his face. Tom Hanks shines in Wes Anderson's latest star-studded comedy Hanks, celebrated for his comedic chops and everybody's favorite guy persona, was out promoting his new film co-starring Benicio Del Toro, Scarlett Johansson, Willem Dafoe, and Bryan Cranston. The film also stars Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Jeffrey Wright, Benedict Cumberbatch, Hope Davis, Rupert Friend, and Bill Murray, among several others. The official description of the film reads, "Wealthy businessman Zsa-zsa Korda appoints his only daughter, a nun, as sole heir to his estate. As Korda embarks on a new enterprise, they soon become the target of scheming tycoons, foreign terrorists, and determined assassins." Cranston, who stars as Tom Hanks' brother in the film, also chimed in on the fun banter, eliciting laughter from the press. A photographer pointed his crooked tie out to the Breaking Bad star, when he replied, "My tie is askew! Thanks for letting me know my tie was askew." He further added, "I'm going to come out with a line of ties called Askew!" The Phoenician Scheme arrived in theaters on May 30, 2025.

Pedro Pascal's t-shirt sends a powerful message of support for the trans community

twitter Actor Pedro Pascal recently made a strong statement on the red carpet—not through words, but through fashion. At the UK premiere of Marvel's Thunderbolts, Pascal wore a red T-shirt that said 'Protect the Dolls.' While the shirt may seem like a trendy item at first glance, it carries a much deeper meaning and personal connection for the actor. According to a report by HOLA! USA senior writer Daniel Neira, the T-shirt was created by American designer Conner Ives. The message, 'Protect the Dolls,' is a term used affectionately within the LGBTQ+ community to refer to transgender women. It serves as a call to action, urging people to stand up for and support trans women, especially during a time when they face increased hostility and political attacks in various parts of the world. Pedro Pascal's appearance in this shirt wasn't just a fashion choice. The actor has been a long-time supporter of trans rights, particularly since his sister, Lux Pascal, publicly came out as transgender in 2021. Ever since then, Pedro has used his platform to advocate for acceptance and equality. His recent outfit is being viewed as another sign of his ongoing support for the trans community. Designer Conner Ives shared that the idea for the T-shirt came from his concerns about the rising political threats to trans people, especially in the U.S. He said that he could no longer ignore the situation, especially since many of the models in his fashion shows are trans women, and he has close friends who are directly affected. Other celebrities have also been seen wearing the same shirt. Singer Troye Sivan wore it at Coachella, while social media star Addison Rae also posted photos of herself wearing it. Even Florence Pugh praised Pedro Pascal's gesture during an interview with MTV UK. A key feature of this campaign is that part of the money made from selling the T-shirt goes to a nonprofit group called Trans Lifeline. This organization is run by and for transgender people, providing support through crisis hotlines and other essential services. The goal is to offer real help to a community that often faces discrimination and a lack of resources. Pedro Pascal's choice to wear the shirt, especially on such a public stage, shows that he's using his fame for a cause that matters deeply to him. It was not just about fashion—it was about family, human rights, and showing support when it's needed most.
