Town clock shines bright and blue

A Weymouth landmark has been illuminated to represent a much-loved charity. The Jubilee Clock on Weymouth Esplanade will shine blue until Monday, February 17, in recognition of MV Freedom. The charity provides people living with a disability access to the sea and all of the skippers and crew members on board MV Freedom provide their services free of charge. The10 metre motor catamaran has been specifically designed and built to cater for wheelchair users and those living with disability. A spokesperson for MV Freedom said: "We delighted that the council has once again chosen to honour and recognise the work of the charity in the Jubilee Clock Light up Scheme. 'The MV Freedom charity is nearly 40 years old and is operated entirely by local volunteers. 'The boat operates twice daily during the summer and can accommodate up to 12 passengers, including six wheelchairs, on each trip." The illumination of the clock face is part of Weymouth Town Council's 'Light Up Scheme for 2025,' which will see the clock illuminated in different colours to represent a range of charities and groups.
