Hong Kong's food delivery scene soars with drone services to Ma On Shan
Food delivery in Hong Kong has reached a new height as a major provider has started to use drones to send orders, cutting waiting time by 35 minutes. The service, provided by Keeta Drone, a subsidiary of mainland Chinese food delivery giant Meituan, delivers orders from two fast-food restaurants in Science Park to a landing zone on Ma On Shan Promenade. The operator said it was planning to expand the service to other locations in the new town using the company's automatic kiosk system. 'The reason that we chose the Science Park and Ma On Shan area is because this is considered a relatively low-risk area with the bay separating the two [areas],' said Mao Yinian, vice-president of Meituan and the president of Keeta Drone. Keeta is one of two food delivery platforms operating in Hong Kong, along with Foodpanda, following the exit of London-based Deliveroo from the Hong Kong market in April. The new service, which will cost Keeta customers HK$30 (US$3.80) in delivery fees, will see travelling time for their orders to Ma On Shan Park cut down to only five minutes compared with the 40 minutes when orders are delivered by bicycle.

Hong Kong police arrest 7 over attempted burglary of jewellery store
Hong Kong police arrested seven people early on Sunday morning in Ma On Shan on suspicion of attempted burglary. Advertisement The suspects, who included individuals as young as 19 years old, were apprehended at around 5am while allegedly attempting to break into a jewellery store in MOSTown, a shopping centre located on On Luk Street. The arrested individuals comprise six local men, aged between 19 and 44, and a 41-year-old Vietnamese man who holds a Hong Kong identity card. Acting on intelligence, officers initially arrested four men outside the shopping centre, with the remaining three being apprehended from two private cars. During the operation, officers seized various tools that were suspected to be used for burglary, including a concrete nailer, a wooden hammer, and three screwdrivers. Advertisement They also found a gold melting furnace, an electronic scale, and gloves in the vehicles, also believed to be linked to the case.

Snake handler captures 2.5-metre python that swallowed cat in Hong Kong
A Hong Kong snake handler captured a 2.5-metre (8.2 feet) long python that had swallowed a stray cat near a village house in Ma On Shan on Saturday morning. Police received a report at around 6.25am from a Chek Nai Ping Village resident who discovered that the python was swallowing a cat outside the No 91 village house. A snake handler was sent to the scene and captured the Burmese python, which was later placed in a cloth bag and transferred to the Kadoorie Farm for handling. According to the force, the startled python regurgitated the stray cat during the capture. The cat was found dead, and its body was being handled by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.

Top Hong Kong Builder Saw Weekend Sales Frenzy After Rates Fell
Hong Kong's biggest property developer Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd. sold another 376 flats on Sunday after receiving more than 34,000 bids, becoming one of the most sought after projects in months thanks to low interest rates. The new round of sales at Sun Hung Kai's Sierra Sea in the Ma On Shan area comes days after a quick sellout of its first batch earlier last week. The flats sold at about HK$9,645 ($1,233) to HK$13,500 per square meter.

Buyers snap up 73% of SHKP's Sierra Sea flats on sale as hot streak continues
Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) sold 73 per cent of the units allocated on Sunday to buyers of its Sierra Sea residential project, capitalising on a sharp fall in interest rates and renewed optimism in the city's stock market outlook. Hong Kong's largest developer sold 277 of the 376 units on offer in phase 1B as of 3.40pm local time, according to agents involved in marketing the project, extending a hot streak since its launch last month. SHKP would continue to take orders from homebuyers up to 11pm, they added. The units on offer include 39 one-bedroom flats, 271 two-bedroom flats and 66 three-bedroom flats, measuring 302 sq ft to 807 sq ft. The price has been set between HK$3.2 million and HK$10.5 million after discounts, or HK$9,645 to HK$13,345 per square foot. The lot is worth HK$2.3 billion (US$294 million) in total. Sierra Sea, located in Shap Sze Heung – between Sai Kung and Ma On Shan in New Territories – offers a total of 9,700 units when fully completed. It is the single biggest project since Cheung Kong Property delivered 15,808 flats at Kingswood Villas in Tin Shui Wai in 1999. 'Homebuyers are optimistic about the growth potential of this project,' said Sammy Po Siu-ming, chief executive of Midland Realty's residential division. 'In addition, sentiment has improved as the trade war eased and stock prices rebounded.' Hong Kong's interbank rates tumbled last week to the lowest level in 33 months as market intervention to weaken the local currency led to a surge in liquidity in the banking system. The Hang Seng Index has risen 15 per cent this year, boosting equity wealth, as investors became more upbeat amid big gains in new listings.
