The Guelph Police Service said a man and woman were waiting to cross Macdonell Street around 3:40 p.m. when another man stepped out in front of traffic, prompting the woman to yell out a warning so he wouldn't get hit. The man turned, hit the woman with his shopping bag, and yelled at her. Some spittle also flew from his mouth and landed on her face. Police found the man nearby and arrested him. The 43-year-old was charged with assault and breaching a probation order.
