LSU softball is set to begin another bid for an SEC championship with the conference tournament beginning on Wednesday.
The Tigers, seeded ninth, will take on No. 8 Mississippi State on Wednesday at 10:00 AM CT in Athens, GA in the second round of the tournament. The contest will be the first of four games inside Jack Turner Stadium.
With a 40-13 regular season record and 12-12 conference finish, LSU is in search of its sixth SEC Tournament championship and the first since 2007. The last time LSU made the final was in 2017. The Tigers' 47 SEC Tournament wins are the most by any program in the conference tournament history.
Should LSU knock off the Bulldogs, the Tigers would advance to the quarterfinals and face No. 1 seed and reigning national champion Oklahoma on Thursday. The tournament semifinals and final are set for Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Tori Edwards is the Tigers' top slugger, leading LSU with 18 home runs. Maci Bergeron has also been a top contributor with 96 total bases on the year.
