Wife and Mother of 6 Dies in Crash Involving Van and Tractor-Trailer

The crash happened on the morning of Monday, June 3, on the northbound M-53 (also known as the Van Dyke Freeway), immediately north of 32 Mile Road, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) said in a Facebook post. Authorities stated that the incident involved a semi-truck and a vehicle and asked motorists to avoid the area. In a later update that same day, the department confirmed that the collision between the white Chevy Express van and the semi-trailer resulted in a fatality. 'The driver of the van, 49-year-old Michelle Castanos, of Bruce Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene,' the Macomb County Sheriff's Office's update read. 'The driver of the semi-truck did not report any injuries.' The agency said its investigation into the crash is still ongoing. No details were offered about the cause of the collision. Eminem stalker convicted after breaking into rapper's Detroit home a second time
His palms are sweaty. The man who broke into Eminem's Detroit home two different times has been convicted of first-degree home invasion and aggravated stalking, The Post can confirm. Matthew David Hughes, 32, was convicted in a Macomb County, Mich., court on Wednesday, May 7. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 17. Sada Baby Arrested on Drug Charges in Michigan
Sada Baby was arrested on drug possession charges in Michigan on Tuesday (April 8). According to Macomb County Sheriff's Office records, Sada (real name Casada Sorrell) was booked in Macomb County Jail by the Sterling Heights Police Department. Per The Detroit News, Sada Baby's arrest stemmed from a traffic stop in January. Last week, Sterling Heights court issued a warrant for narcotics possession of less than 25 grams tied to the Jan. 9 traffic stop. Officers allegedly searched Sada Baby's vehicle and discovered a possible illegal substance. The findings were sent away for testing and came back positive for narcotics, per Rolling Stone. Sada Baby pleaded guilty in February to failure to display a driver's license. He paid a $200 fine and the charge was dismissed. He is yet to be arraigned and a court date hasn't been assigned as the 'Whole Lotta Choppas' rapper remains behind bars. When reports of Sada Baby's arrest emerged, the rapper's wide-eyed mug shot quickly went viral on social media. 'This n—a gon troll till the very end,' one person wrote to X. Another said: 'This picture is telling me everything I need to know im weak af lmfaooo.' Michigan man accused of strangling his father's dog sentenced to community service
A 49-year-old Macomb County man accused of strangling his father's Labrador Retriever to death has been sentenced to community service. On Monday, William John Kucharski Jr. was sentenced to 62 days of community service after pleading no contest to one count of animal cruelty, according to court records. On Jan. 14, 2025, Macomb County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a home on Prinz Road in Richmond Township for a report of a possible dead family pet and a threat to a family member. Deputies say the caller was concerned about the welfare of Kucharski and Kucharski's father. Kucharski was reportedly home alone with the dog and is accused of choking and killing the animal. When his father returned home, he allegedly found his son with his arms around the dog and was unable to remove them. Deputies say Kucharski made threats to harm himself. Kucharski was reportedly uncooperative with deputies and was later arrested. "It is alarming to see innocent animals subjected to such cruelty. I urge everyone who believes in harsher consequences for animal abuse and the loss of animal life to contact their state legislature and push for changes in the law that will allow for stricter penalties for these heinous acts," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido when charges were announced against Kucharski.

Detroit-area man, 24, arrested in high-end auto thefts in Warren
A 24-year-old man from Warren, Michigan, was arrested for allegedly being involved in auto theft. Deon Brooks was charged with one count of conducting a criminal enterprise. Brooks was arraigned on Wednesday and is currently on bond for the same crime in February 2024. He received a $2 million cash/surety bond. According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, the Auto Theft Squad (M.A.T.S.) began investigating in December 2024 after high-end Cadillacs were reported stolen from the GM Corporate Lot in Warren. Investigators alleged that Brooks retagged the vehicles with cloned VIN numbers and sold them out of state for profit. The sheriff's office said the vehicles were valued at more than $1.5 million. Detectives seized printers, retagging equipment, fraudulent Secretary of State documents, methamphetamine, jewelry and a Chrysler Pacifica. The investigation is ongoing in other people possibly linked to Brooks.
