Champaign community invited to enjoy coffee with a cop
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Police Department is inviting members of the community to meet its officers and enjoy coffee with them during another Coffee with a Cop event. The Champaign Police Department has hosted several of these events over the years and it is hosting the next one on Tuesday. It will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. at Mad Goat Coffee in downtown Champaign. The City of Champaign wants your input on downtown improvements There will be no agenda and no speeches, the department said. It's just a chance to chat with officers, ask questions and voice concerns. This is the first Coffee with a Cop event for the Champaign Police Department in 2025. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Danville Mayor going out in city for ‘What's Brewing' event
DANVILLE, Ill (WCIA) — City officials said they've heard people in Danville request more opportunities to speak with their mayor, and now they will get their wish through a new event called 'What's Brewing.' It could be anything from city council topics to projects or even his favorite coffee order. People who come to Mad Goat Coffee's south location will have the chance to talk to Mayor Ricky Williams in a more casual setting. Danville community holds conversation on racially disproportionate traffic stops The city's communication department said they've gotten a ton of calls asking for this, and they're excited to answer them. Williams won't be alone for these events either, he'll be joined by leaders of different city departments. 'Sometimes for comedic relief and other times for that specific knowledge they have,' said Community Relations Administrator Rheanna Ollis. 'So, our first one will be Dave, really. He is our director of Public Works, so he'll chat about like potholes and upcoming processes like that.' The leader at the second event will be Community Development Administrator Logan Cronk to talk about the growth of Danville. If you're one of the first 15 people to show up to the first event, you will get a free drink. It'll be held on March 10 at 11:30 a.m. at Mad Goat Coffee at 701 S Gilbert St. The city has four 'What's Brewing' events planned out but are waiting for the locations of the last two.
