ICC hosts grand reception to honour celebrated Indian playback singers, cine artists

The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Qatar, hosted a vibrant and heartwarming community reception to honour a distinguished group of renowned Indian playback singers and cine artists at the ICC Ashoka Hall on Friday, 13th June 2025.
The event brought together some of the most cherished voices and talents from the Indian music and film industry, including Madhu Balakrishnan, Sumi Aravind, Sudeep Kumar, Chitra Arun, KK Nishad, Ravisankar, Vrinda Menon, and the acclaimed cine artist and mimicry legend Jayaraj Warrier. Their presence added grace and charm to a truly memorable evening.
The reception commenced with a warm welcome address by ICC General Secretary Abraham K Joseph, who expressed the collective pride of the Indian community in hosting such accomplished artistes in Doha. The presidential address was delivered by ICC President AP Manikantan, who underscored the significance of cultural diplomacy and the unifying power of music and cinema in strengthening people-to-people ties.
As a special highlight of the evening, the ICC felicitated Chandramohan Pillai, chairman of Chandrakala Arts, for his notable contributions to the promotion of Indian performing arts.
In their heartfelt addresses, Madhu Balakrishnan and Jayaraj Warrier expressed their deep gratitude to the Indian community and the ICC for the affectionate reception and acknowledged the enduring support they have received from Indian expatriates across the world.
The event concluded on a graceful note with a vote of thanks by Nandini Abbagouni, ICC's head of cultural activities, who lauded the collective efforts behind the successful organisation of the event. The evening's proceedings were deftly compered by Manju Manoj, who ensured a seamless and engaging flow of the programme.
The event was graced by the presence of ICC Advisory Council Chairman PN Baburajan, members of the ICC managing committee, presidents of various associated organisations, and eminent leaders of the Indian community, making it a truly high-profile cultural gathering.
