Lok Adalat settles 87k cases across state in a day
Bhopal/Jabalpur: More than 87,000 cases were resolved in a single day as part of the state-wide
Lok Adalat
held on Saturday. Out of the total 87,579 cases, 58,576 pre-litigation matters and 29,003 pending cases.
In Bhopal, 17,130 cases were disposed of in the Lok Adalat and awards of 59 crore 68 lakh were given away to the litigants.
The Lok Adalat was virtually inaugurated by the chief justice of MP high court Suresh Kumar Kait. At Bhopal district court, the Lok Adalat was inaugurated by principal chief justice Manoj Kumar Shrivastava. Member secretary of Madhya Pradesh

Authority Pradeep Mittal informed that 6 benches of the high court were constituted for the Lok Adalat at Jabalpur, Gwalior and Indoe bench of MP high court.

Besides, 1447 courts were constituted in district courts across the state. A total of 3,35,204 cases were put up before the courts during the Lok Adalat, out of which 87,579 cases were settled and orders of an award of Rs 413 crore was passed in favour of the litigants.
In his address while virtually inaugurating the Lok Adalat, MP HC chief
justice Suresh Kumar Kait
said the Lok Adalat gives us a chance to renew our commitment to quick, easy and timely justice to the litigants Lok Adalat stands for easy and quick justice through mutual understanding of the a method to dispense prompt justice to people without much expenditure on the part of litigants by reaching an agreement among the litigants involved in a dispute. It not only reduces the burden of cases on courts but also reinforces the spirit of peaceful negotiation and settlement of disputes through mutual understanding.
Justice Anand Pathak and Justice Vivek Agarwal also addressed the inaugural function.
