T.N. DGP urges police personnel to derive utmost utility of ‘Magilchi' programme
Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu, Shankar Jiwal on Saturday called upon police personnel to derive optimal utility of the 'Magilchi' programme and 'Magilchi' wellness centre, to safeguard their mental health.
Unlike in the past when elders in joint family system used to provide guidance, the mental pressure being experienced in nuclear families was not being addressed with due care, due to inhibitions.
Mental anxiety, if not addressed, will go on to affect the family, the DGP cautioned, calling upon the police personnel to take utmost care of their mental health.
The initiative has already been launched in Chennai, Madurai and Tiruvarur, and will be rolled out in Vellore next, the DGP said.
C. Rama Subramanian, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist, and State Nodal Officer for the Magilchi Programme highlighted the intended objectives of the initiative.
Senior police officials across Western region took part in the programme.
