CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – Penn State is gearing up as THON 2025 is approaching and the amount raised for Four Diamond will be revealed.
THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, with more than 16,500 Penn State student volunteers. All the money raised goes towards Four Diamonds. THON kicked off in July of 2024 and began the yearlong fundraising effort. For THON weekend in February, the Bryce Jordan Center fills with thousands for a 46-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon.
'I think it's really important that the families know that we are all here to support. We are all here to show that you're not alone and that you have all these people around you, you're going through this battle that really nobody should have to go through,' Williams said.
Students look forward to the event all year long, they say it's not about the dancing, instead it's about the moto, FTK, or For the Kids.
'Being able to see the impact that it has on families and they have nothing but good things to say about it. And it's really amazing to hear about the true impact that our fundraising has. But also just like having an event where all the families and kids can come and interact with college students and volunteers is really amazing,' Williams said.
THON raised a record-breaking $16.9 million in 2024. Since its start in 1973, THON has raised more than $236 million to support Four Diamonds. earn more about THON, as well as opportunities to participate in upcoming fundraising efforts on the THON website.
