Russian fighter Magomed Ankalaev ended Alex Pereira 's five-match winning streak, thereby claiming the light heavyweight title. Even though there were talks of a rematch between the fighters immediately after the bout, the recent string of events associated with Pereira has minimised the possibility of the bout happening anytime soon. In a recent interview, former UFC legend Josh Thompson suggested the name of another fighter who would be a perfect fit for Magomed's next fight. Josh Thomson lists out possible fighters suitable for the title defense, proposes Carlos Ulberg to be best suited for the bout Alex Pereira has recently been involved in a retirement controversy when a now-deleted post was made through the account of the fighter on X. However, the Poatan dismissed such rumors, stating that his account was hacked. This particular statement was interpreted in multiple ways. While many believed what the fighter said, his rival, Magomed Ankalaev, in a sarcastic manner, accepted that he had hacked the account of the Brazilian fighter. However, MMA analysts like Daniel Cormier believed that the account was not hacked and there was some amount of truth in the statement that was made by the fighter. With all these going on, the Russian fighter also revealed a UFC offer that gave the fighter a chance to either step into the Octagon against Pereira or have any other opponent. As Magomed reveals the offer, he also mentions that if the Brazilian fighter doesn't accept the bout offer, he is ready to move on with some other fighter. While nothing has been confirmed as of now, former UFC legend Josh Thompson in a recent episode of Weighing in talks about the potential opponent for Magomed Ankalaev after Alex Pereira in the light heavyweight division. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Islam Is Avoiding Ilia Topuria… says Chael Sonnen | Burns vs Morales REACTION | WEIGHING IN #574 'What you have is Jamahal Hill coming off a loss, Jan Blachowicz coming off a loss, Aleksandar Rakic coming off a loss, Khalil Rountree Jr. coming off a loss. Alex Pereira threatens to RETIRE and lashes out at the UFC, accusing promotion of 'playing' with him in cryptic message

One of the UFC 's biggest stars, Alex Pereira, has lashed out at his employers and even threatened to retire. The Brazilian, who has become a fan favourite and fearsome KO artist since joining the organisation and won belts at multiple weight classes, posted an emotional message on X. The 37-year-old said: 'I always answered the UFC's calls, but if they want to play with me, we can do that. 'I've never spoken poorly of the UFC but with what I've just heard I'm disheartened. 'I've already had thoughts of not fighting anymore, and after what was just relayed to me this may be the start.' The exact nature of Pereira's complaint with his employers is unknown but it is possible that his desired rematch with Magomed Ankalaev could be on the backburner or there may even be a contract dispute. The Brazilian, 37, concerned fans with his message, in which he spoke of being 'disheartened' Pereira saved two cards last year, jumping in on short notice to feature in the main event of UFC 300 and UFC 303. 'Poatan' lost his light-heavyweight title against the Russian in March and wants an immediate rematch, which some believed would take place in June. But now Pereira's vocal contemplation of retirement puts a spanner in the works and will sound alarm bells for the UFC. Earlier this month, Ankalaev suggested talks had stalled, writing: 'Alex Pereira, do you still like fighting? I have a feeling you are done.' Judging by Pereira's latest message, it seems there's more than a shred of truth in his rival's words. The uncertainty is far from ideal for the UFC, with fans also waiting for what would be the biggest fight of the year to be announced, namely a heavyweight clash between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones. The Brit has been pushing to face 'Bones' but there remains a lack of commitment to the fight from the American.
