Provide doorstep veterinary services at tehsil level, Munde tells officials

Amravati: As more and more farmers are turning to animal husbandry due to govt's efforts, official concerned must ensure proper care of animals' health, said

, Maharashtra minister for animal husbandry, environment, and climate change, during a review meeting of the animal husbandry department.
She directed that doorstep veterinary services should be provided, especially at the tehsil level.
She emphasized that districts should have proper laboratories and veterinary hospitals. Goshalas (cow shelters) should be equipped with quality facilities, fenced with barbed wire, and animals admitted there should receive proper treatment, she stressed.
In a symbolic gesture, registration certificates were distributed to goshalas on the occasion.
Under the indigenous cow nutrition scheme, over 3,000 cattle rearers have received financial assistance. Alongside, through the human development initiative, milch animals have been distributed and training provided. Officers were instructed to maintain records of the distributed animals and ensure they receive necessary assistance. "Fodder should be arranged for milch animals through the fodder development programme," the minister said.

"Under the MahaMesh Scheme, 217 beneficiaries have been assisted, and special attention must be paid to the implementation of this scheme," she stressed.
Later, at the review meeting of the environment department, Munde stressed that sewage treatment systems in municipal areas must be handled efficiently. "Municipal bodies should be guided to set up water treatment plants, especially in urban areas," she said.
Munde also mentioned that there are frequent complaints of air and water pollution in industrial areas. "Such complaints should be promptly addressed with corrective measures," she said.
In Amravati, where textile industries are located, sewage treatment systems must be inspected, she said and emphasized on proper management of fly ash and wastewater from thermal power plants.
