As the curtain draws on the thrilling 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, the IPL 2025 Final promises more than just cricket. Scheduled for June 3 at the majestic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the showdown between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be preceded by a grand closing ceremony — one designed to stir the soul and honour national pride. But before that, fans will witness an emotionally charged musical tribute to the Indian Armed Forces, setting the tone for a night that will blend the intensity of sport with the reverence of sacrifice. A Musical Salute to India's Bravehearts The IPL 2025 closing ceremony is far more than a spectacle. Headlined by Padma Shri awardee Shankar Mahadevan, the event is titled 'A Tribute to the Indian Armed Forces'. The singer, known for emotionally resonant songs like 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' and 'Breathless', will honour the fallen heroes of Operation Sindoor and the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, which tragically claimed 26 civilian lives. Mahadevan's live act is expected to feature patriotic anthems, accompanied by military bands, creating a heartfelt narrative that transcends the cricketing rivalry. The stage is set to be graced by visuals of tricolour tributes and a powerful display of national unity — a moment that promises to be both moving and memorable. When and Where to Watch the IPL 2025 Closing Ceremony Date: Tuesday, June 3, 2025 Time: Starts at 6:00 PM IST Venue: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad Live Telecast: Watch the ceremony live on Star Sports Network Live Streaming: Available on the JioHotstar app and website Whether you're watching from the stands or from the comfort of your living room, this is a pre-match show you simply can't miss. Star-Studded Attendance and National Honours In a rare gesture, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended invitations to top defence officials, including: General Anil Chauhan (Chief of Defence Staff) General Upendra Dwivedi (Army Chief) Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi (Navy Chief) Air Chief Marshal AP Singh (Air Force Chief) This remarkable inclusion ensures the event stands as a solemn tribute — elevating the IPL finale beyond entertainment into a celebration of resilience and patriotism. Why This Ceremony Matters: A Cultural Turning Point for IPL This year's IPL finale carries a deeper cultural context. The tournament was suspended mid-season due to cross-border tensions and resumed after a week-long hiatus, during which national unity came into sharp focus. In response to the Pahalgam attack and rising regional instability, the BCCI chose to honour Operation Sindoor, a decisive military effort by Indian forces against terror camps in PoK. The decision to pivot the final from Eden Gardens to Ahmedabad, a venue that boasts the world's largest cricket stadium, adds gravitas to the occasion. This isn't just a cricket match. It's a statement of solidarity — a grand crescendo to a season shaped by both sporting highs and geopolitical undercurrents. What to Expect After the Ceremony Once the final note of Mahadevan's tribute echoes across the stadium, all eyes will shift to the IPL 2025 Final — a historic clash between two underdog teams in search of maiden glory. Will Virat Kohli finally lift the IPL trophy with RCB? Or will Sam Curran's PBKS script a fairy-tale ending? Either way, the closing ceremony will set the emotional tempo for what is sure to be a nail-biting finale.

Did Shankar Mahadevan Really Sing 'Breathless' With A Single Breath?

Last Updated: Shankar Mahadevan's 'Breathless' is as iconic as they come. But the song has every once in a while made folks wonder if the singer really sang the iconic number in a single breath. 'I have received some truly devastating news today. Noone talk to me while I go cry, (sic)" wrote a bamboozled user on X as their Google search delivered them a rude shock and shook their life-long perceived reality. The Google's answer? 'No, Shankar Mahadevan did not sing 'Breathless" in one continuous breath. It's true, it always has been. It's like learning that wrestling isn't real after years of religious watching and intently following all its plots and subplots. But the singer behind 'Kajra Re", 'Desi Girl", 'Noor E Khuda", 'Dil Chahta Hai", 'Bumbro", 'Maa", 'Sapno Se Bhare Naina", among many other melodious numbers hasn't ever shied away from letting us all know, the audiences, that 'Breathless" was, in fact, not sung breathlessly. Still, the title of the song has safeguarded 'Breathless" as a track that was sung in one continuous breath for over two decades only for one of us to Google or check Reddit one day to debunk the myth. Breathless It was early in his career and Mahadevan was busy composing jingles and working in advertising. He then embarked on a journey to create an Indi-pop album. The year was 1998. The singer from the legendary Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio approached the lyrical genius Javed Akhtar to write for his album. The singer gave Akhtar saab the meter to pen the songs. What happened next left Mahadevan breathless. 'It looked like a magazine article," Mahadevan upon receiving '4 sheets of lyrics" from Akhtar. It looked like the newspaper, the singer admitted. After handing him sheets for 'Breathless", the title track of the 1998 album with the same name, Akhtar suggested the singer go the route of English classical music. The song was devoid of any structure – it lacked conventional writing. The 2-minute and 53-second long song is devoid of stanzas, verses or breaks – the general structural pillars of a song. 'A song has a mukhda then music, antara and then music, that kind of a thing. But when we are improvising, it doesn't have a structure, so why can't we write something like that? A structure-less parabola as it is called in Physics– it goes up, it comes down, it is fast, it is slow, 'upar ke surr hai, neeche ke surr hai', so it is a very unstructured kind of a thing, but it has it's own structure," Mahadevan told the Indian Express. Not Breathless In an interview with Nation Next, Mahadevan was asked if the song was a one-take, one-breath wonder. The singer responded with a negative, implying that it was shot with breaks and chops. It was then stitched together masterfully to make 'Breathless" appear breathless. Genius. Mahadevan also revealed that 'Breathless" was composed by him using a dictaphone in a taxi while he was travelling back to Navi Mumbai. First Published:

Shapoorji Pallonji launches over Rs 1,400 crore luxury project in Gurugram

Mumbai-based Shapoorji Pallonji Real Estate (SPRE), in partnership with Kreeva (Kanodia Real Estate Venture Arm) and ASK Property Fund, has announced the launch of The Dualis — a luxury residential development in Sector 46, Gurugram. The project is estimated to generate revenue of over ₹1,400 crore over the next five years. Towering approximately 150 metres, The Dualis will be among the tallest residential towers in the area, a statement by the consortium of SPRE, Kreeva, and ASK noted. The project features two towers with 198 luxurious 3- and 4-BHK residences, with saleable areas ranging from 2,850 to 3,600 square feet (sq ft), and 60,000 sq ft of amenity space. Sriram Mahadevan, chief executive officer (CEO) of SPRE and managing director of Joyville Shapoorji Housing, said, 'With 'The Dualis', we are entering a high-potential micro-market with a product that combines location, scale, and quality. This is a long-term investment in the future of luxury housing in Gurugram, backed by partners who share our vision for value creation and timely delivery.' 'The partnership brings together institutional funding, deep-rooted local market expertise, and a shared legacy of construction excellence,' Mahadevan added. Mayank Jain, CEO of Kreeva, stated, 'The Dualis represents the commitment of delivering luxury, scale, and sophistication in one of Gurugram's most promising neighbourhoods. This collaboration with Shapoorji Pallonji Real Estate and ASK Property Fund is a strong endorsement of the location's investment potential, and we are confident that The Dualis will set a new benchmark for luxury living in the region.' This launch reflects a growing trend of institutional capital entering North India's luxury residential market, driven by rising demand, favourable infrastructure, and a discerning, maturing buyer base. The Dualis is expected to attract strong interest from both end-users and investors looking for long-term capital appreciation and a healthy rental yield, the developers claimed. Additionally, this is SPRE's second project in the Gurugram market, following the launch of Joyville Gurugram in Sector 102.
