Rs 44.4 crore approved for Chitranagari in Kolhapur
Kolhapur: The development of Chitranagari, Kolhapur's film city, has received approval for Rs 44.4 crore in funding, as announced by MLA Amal Mahadik. The funds will facilitate the essential modernisation of Chitranagari's facilities. At the Workers' Welfare Board drama competition inauguration, Mahadik had initially proposed Rs 50 crore for Chitranagari. Following his request to cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, the authorities sanctioned Rs 44.4 crore. The allocation includes Rs 2.6 crore for CCTV installation and fire safety equipment. Rs 14.7 crore has been designated for constructing the main entrance, installing 300kv solar panels, and developing a temple within the premises. The post-production unit construction received Rs 11.2 crore, while Rs 9.2 crore was allocated for advanced machinery and facilities. Additionally, Rs 6.6 crore was approved for establishing a screening theatre. Solapur farmer hurt in birthday misfire
1 2 Pune: A 55-year-old farmer from Madha taluka in Solapur district sustained bullet injuries near his chest while handling his friend's licensed pistol. The incident occurred on Saturday around 4pm at a farmhouse in Sarati village in Indapur taluka, about 162 km from Pune, while the victim, Sudhir Mahadik-Deshmukh, was celebrating his birthday with his friend. Mahadik-Deshmukh was first taken to a private hospital in Akluj in Solapur district and later shifted to a private hospital in Lonikalbhor. "The victim underwent surgery on Sunday, and his condition is stable," superintedent of police Sandeep Singh Gill of the Pune rural police told TOI. The police found a hookah pot and playing cards at the farmhouse. The Pune rural police have registered a case against the victim and his three friends under sections 125 (b) (act endangering life or personal safety of others, 289 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act, The Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, and The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act. Gill said, "The firearm belonged to one of the three men from Akole village in Madha taluka, who has a political background and an afluent farmer. The firearm was issued to him by Tembhurni police. We have seized the firearm, as well as an empty cartridge found at the farmhouse." Police Sub-Inspector Dattatreya Lendve of the Indapur police told TOI that Saturday was Mahadik-Deshmukh's birthday. The victim and his two friends from Madha had come to their friend's farmhouse in Sarati village. "Around 4 pm, when all of them were playing cards and smoking hookah, the suspect kept the firearm beside him. Mahadik took the firearm from him, and it went off while Mahadik was handling it. The bullet hit Mahadik near his right chest," Lendve said. He mentioned that Mahadik's friends immediately took him to a hospital. He is stable now. "Our investigations are ongoing," he said.
