Daily wager's daughter tops UP Board class 12 exam results
Prayagraj: Mahak Jaiswal , 17, from Bhulai ka Pura, in Prayagraj 's Phoolpur, who topped the UP Board class 12 exam with 97.2% marks is a story of sterling grit and determination. Daughter of a daily wage labourer who works at a roadside eatery in Kaushambi's Kokhraj, Mahak said she achieved this success without taking any coaching classes. A student of the Bacha Ram Yadav Inter College in Bhulai Ka Pura, Prayagraj, Mahak said, "I studied entirely at home and did not take any offline or online coaching classes. I only focused on what was taught in school." Mahak, who wants to become a doctor, said, "I used to study for nine to 10 hours every day. I had thought my name would appear among the top students in Uttar Pradesh but I did not expect to secure the first position." In Class 10, Anshi from Shivaji SN Inter College, Katara S Khan, Etawah and Abhishek Kumar Yadav from Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College, Ram Sanehi Ghat, Barabanki, bagged second ranks by scoring 97.67%. Three students – Ritu Garg from DP SVM Inter College, Bilari, Moradabad; Arpit Verma from Baburam Savitri Devi Inter College, Shekhpur Bilauli, Sitapur; and Simran Gupta from Lt Smt RKD Inter College, Umari, Jalaun – jointly bagged third rank in Class 10 exams by scoring 97.5%. In Class 10, institutional candidates showed a better performance with a pass percentage of 90.19%, compared to 68.9% for private candidates, a notable difference of 21.29%. Interestingly, private candidates (81.28%) slightly outperformed institutional candidates (81.15%), a rare instance where the gap favoured private students, though marginally by 0.13%. The exams were held from Feb 24 to Mar 12 across 8,140 centres over 13 working days. Answer sheets were evaluated between Mar 19 and Apr 2 at 261 evaluation centres, involving 92,594 teachers. A total of 3,682 candidates appeared for partial subject exams under board regulations.
