Nurses felicitated
As many as 25 nursing professionals were honoured for their services on Sunday, ahead of the annual International Nurses Day celebrated on May 12, the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.
The professionals included nurses and senior faculty from nursing colleges in the country. The Nursing Excellence Award recognises outstanding nursing professionals from government and private hospitals who have consistently demonstrated excellence in patient care, said D. Mahalingam, managing director of the Academy, an organisation involved in healthcare training that started nearly 30 years, Mr. Mahalingam said he launched his services from Sankara Nethralaya.
V. Kanakasabai, former Dean of Madras Medical College and R. Palaniyandi, former bureaucrat, distributed the awards. 'As healthcare continues to evolve, the unwavering presence of a nurse remains the cornerstone of compassionate care,' Mr. Mahalingam said, adding that they not only monitor vital signs but also offer emotional support. 'Nurses are the heartbeat of our healthcare system,' he said.
