Civic body warns against illegal hoardings in Chhatrapati sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The civic body has threatened strict action for erecting illegal hoardings in the city. Stating that different chowks, roadsides, and dividers must be kept free from such hoardings, the civic authorities said any non-compliance would attract action under the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act , 1995. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "The Bombay High Court revived a PIL related to illegal hoardings across the state, and the court issued contempt notices to political parties and others as the issue of illegal hoardings still persists. We would appeal to all stakeholders to take note of this," a senior civic official said. With continuous VIP movement and different public celebrations, prominent chowks and roads of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar witness illegal hoardings. Civic authorities said illegal hoardings also snatch revenue of the municipal corporation generated through legal hoardings. "The illegal hoardings have become so rampant that people turn their back towards raising hoardings in a legal manner," authorities said. While Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) takes regular drives against illegal hoardings, fresh hoardings emerge soon after such crackdowns. "Considering the ongoing petition before the Bombay High Court, we will take more stern action against those responsible for illegal hoardings. We cannot allow the court to serve us a separate contempt notice for defacement of the tourist capital of Maharashtra due to hoardings," authorities said. Besides political parties, CSMC is reaching out to different social and religious groups with an appeal for not raising illegal hoardings.
