(AP Photo/Mahesh Kumar A.) HYDERABAD, India (AP) — Rain washed out Sunrisers Hyderabad's slim chance of qualifying for the Indian Premier League playoffs on Monday. Captain Pat Cummins' three-wicket burst with the new ball limited Delhi Capitals to 133-7 before heavy rain and the wet outfield denied further play. Advertisement Both teams received one point each but Hyderabad, last year's finalist, became the third team to drop out of the playoffs race after Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Delhi was lucky to get away with one point after more dismal batting from its top order, and was still in playoffs contention in fifth place. Delhi stumbles against Cummins Cummins perfectly read the tricky grassless pitch and ran Delhi into all sorts of trouble with three wickets off his first 13 balls after he won the toss and elected to field. He had Karun Nair caught behind off the first ball of the match and Faf du Plessis was beaten by a short ball and edged behind to Ishan Kishan, who kept wickets for the first time this season in place of Heinrich Klaasen. Advertisement Cummins, who took the new ball after Mohammed Shami was left out, made it 15-3 when Kishan took a smart running catch at square leg after Abhishek Porel top-edged an attempted flick. Cummins added a brilliant catch over his right shoulder when he back-pedalled from mid-off to dismiss Delhi captain Axar Patel. Kishan's fourth catch made it 29-5 when Lokesh Rahul edged Jaydev Unadkat. Tristan Stubbs, 41 not out, and impact player Ashutosh Sharma, 41, helped Delhi cross 100 but all of Hyderabad's sterling work in the field was washed away by the rain. ___ AP cricket:

(AP Photo/Mahesh Kumar A.) HYDERABAD, India (AP) — Mumbai Indians broke into the top three of the Indian Premier League with a commanding seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. Impact player Rohit Sharma (70) hit his second straight half-century as Mumbai motored to 146-3 in 15.4 overs, propelling the five-time champions to third place on the points table after struggling early in the season. Advertisement Heinrich Klaasen's 71 off 44 balls had earlier saved Hyderabad from complete destruction to score 143-8 with new ball bowlers Trent Boult (4-26) and Deepak Chahar (2-12) doing the most damage. Boult and Chahar had left Hyderabad on the mat at 13-4 with Ishan Kishan falling in a bizarre fashion. The on-field umpire first declared Chahar's leg-side delivery a wide but changed his decision and lifted his finger when he saw Kishan walking back. However, the television replays later showed that the ball had missed the bat as Kishan tried to flick Chahar. Klaasen revived the innings by combining in a 99-run stand with Abhinav Manohar before Jasprit Bumrah completed 300 wickets in T20 cricket when Klaasen missed out the low full toss and was caught at deep mid-wicket in the penultimate over. Boult, who had removed openers Travis Head for nought and Abhishek Sharma for eight in his opening spell, bagged two more wickets in the last over when Manohar got hit wicket. The left-arm New Zealand fast bowler then clean bowled captain Pat Cummins with a perfect yorker. Advertisement It's a remarkable turnaround for Mumbai, which won only one of its first five games before bouncing back with four successive wins. Hyderabad is at No. 9, just ahead of last-place Chennai Super Kings. ___ AP cricket:

HYDERABAD, India (AP) — Shardul Thakur dismantled the batting powerhouse of Sunrisers Hyderabad with 4-34 and Nicholas Pooran hit the season's fastest half-century to lead Lucknow Super Giants to a five-wicket win in the Indian Premier League on Thursday. Thakur's early strikes included the wickets of big-hitters Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan on successive deliveries and helped pin down Hyderabad to 190-9 after Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to chase. Pooran's blistering 70 off 26 balls then motored Lucknow to 193-5 in 16.1 overs with Mitchell Marsh, coming in as impact player at the top-order, scoring 52 off 31 balls. Pooran completed his half-century off 18 balls with a swept six against Adam Zampa as Lucknow sprinted to 96-1 in just seven overs. Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins trapped Pooran leg before wicket with a full pitched delivery from round the wicket, before his countryman Marsh completed his 50 with back-to-back boundaries against him. Marsh fell soon afterward to Cummins when he holed out to long-on. Pant (15) sliced a catch to short third man and Ayush Badoni was spectacularly caught by Harshal Patel, who ran from mid-wicket and dived in time to pluck a brilliant catch. Thakur dominates; Aniket Verma impresses Thakur had earlier took the sting out of Hyderabad's explosive top-order batting lineup with the wickets of Sharma and Kishan, who had scored a century against Rajasthan Royals last weekend. Pooran was placed perfectly at deep square leg and Abhishek fell in the trap of a short ball while Kishan feathered a leg side catch of the first ball he faced of the fast bowler before Nitish Kumar Reddy survived the hat-trick ball. Hyderabad struggled to put up partnerships thereafter despite Aniket Verma smashing five sixes in his brisk 36-run knock off 13 balls as Thakur claimed two more wickets in his return spell to pin down Hyderabad at the same venue where it amassed 286 runs against Rajasthan last Sunday. ___ AP cricket:
