Kennebunkport family displaced after fire damages home, destroys garage
KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that tore through a property known as 'The Tamaracks' on Maine Street on June 6, reducing a garage to rubble and severely damaging an adjacent home.
Crews from the Kennebunkport Fire Department arrived on the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m., assisted by firefighters from Kennebunk, Wells, Arundel, and Biddeford. While no injuries were reported, several vehicles in or near the garage were destroyed, and the blaze displaced the family living in the adjacent home.
Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said investigators from the Maine Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene on Saturday morning, June 7.
"Investigators say a motorcycle that had been started just minutes before the fire began is being considered a possible cause," Moss stated.
Moss said the fire is still under investigation. Kennebunk and Kennebunkport Fire Departments are aiding in the ongoing investigation.
