Celebrate the anniversary of Schoolhouse No. 4 with free tour
MAINE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Residents are invited to step back in time at the special anniversary celebration of a relocated historic building in Maine.
The Nanticoke Valley Historical Society of Maine is hosting a toast to commemorate the anniversary of Schoolhouse No. 4, a one-room establishment built in 1845 that was relocated to Maine 25 years ago after originally residing in Tioga County.
Beginning on June 16 at 5:30 pm, community members will have the chance to tour the schoolhouse free of charge.
Followed by events such as a flag ceremony, poem recitation, sing-along, and a tree planting by Maine Memorial PTA members.
As an added bonus, viewers can also enjoy a photography exhibit of the building's history in the Janet W. Bowers Museum across from the schoolhouse.
