UAE Hosts Digital Readiness Retreat to Accelerate Tech-Driven Transformation

The UAE has reaffirmed its commitment to leading the global digital race, hosting the third edition of the Government's Digital Readiness Retreat, a key platform to shape the future of digital governance. The event brought together 1,000 senior leaders and experts to align strategies, share innovations, and drive systemic transformation across sectors. Organised by the Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation, the retreat showcased the UAE's digital progress and unveiled the latest UAE Government Digital Transformation Report. The event highlighted advancements across critical sectors including economy, health, education, security, and infrastructure. Minister Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Chair of the Committee, emphasized that innovation and rapid tech adoption now define global leadership. She noted that in 2024, the UAE delivered 173.7 million digital transactions, serving over 57 million users with a 91% satisfaction rate. These achievements placed the UAE among the world's top digital governments. TDRA Director-General Majed Al Mesmar described the retreat as a catalyst for building a human-centric, innovation-led government. He revealed over 2.6 billion digital transactions and 11 million digital identity users, underscoring the UAE's shift toward seamless, AI-powered public services. New initiatives included the launch of the Digital Transformation Leadership Programme, MoU signings to boost collaboration, and expert-led panels on AI, cybersecurity, and citizen-centric design. Cybersecurity chief Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti stressed the importance of secure digital infrastructure, while private sector partners like e&, Presight, Microsoft, and ServiceNow showcased how public-private collaboration is shaping resilient, AI-native systems. The retreat concluded with cross-sector discussions on reimagining services for a 24/7 digital society. New York, In line with efforts to strengthen international cooperation and accelerate digital transformation, a milestone event in regional digital collaboration and sustainable development was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals Forum. A new partnership agreement was signed between the Government of the United Arab Emirates, represented by H.E. Eng. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director General of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA). This partnership represents a practical model for implementing the principles of the Global Digital Compact in support of inclusive digital development. During the meeting, participants discussed implementation mechanisms for the agreement and capacity-building efforts, with a focus on leveraging global best practices and the UAE's successful digital government experience as a framework to achieve regional digital integration. The discussions also emphasized the importance of this partnership in supporting digital transformation efforts across the Arab region, rooted in the principles of the Global Digital Compact, while aligning with local needs and the Sustainable Development Goals. This new collaboration further promotes regional dialogue, knowledge exchange, and forward-looking policy development, in line with the vision of the Global Digital Compact.
