Carlos Santana collapses before concert and is rushed to hospital

Carlos Santana, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency while preparing for a concert in San Antonio. The 77-year-old San Francisco musician was at the Majestic Theatre for a sound check on Tuesday, April 22, when he reportedly fainted. Emergency crews arrived around 5 p.m., and Santana was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. His condition was described as non-life-threatening, according to the San Antonio Fire Department. 'Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action.' The concert will be rescheduled, Vrionis added. Fans are advised to hold onto their tickets. Santana, renowned for classics such as 'Black Magic Woman' and the chart-topping hit 'Smooth,' kicked off his Oneness Tour 2025 less than a week ago at Yaamava' Theater in Highland (San Bernardino County) on April 16. He is still expected to perform at upcoming shows later this week in Sugar Land, Texas, and Thackerville, Oklahoma. This isn't the first time health concerns have affected the guitarist's schedule. Earlier this year, Santana postponed a Las Vegas residency after breaking a finger in a fall at his Hawaii vacation home. He also collapsed onstage during a Michigan concert in 2022 due to heat exhaustion and dehydration, and in 2021, he underwent an unscheduled heart procedure that led to canceled shows. Despite these challenges, Vrionis says Santana is recovering well.
