KUALA LUMPUR: A tutor recently shared her experience of being embraced by a Muslim community during a religious event.
In a TikTok video that has gone viral, the teacher, known by her handle @Kaveelasheeni, recalled being invited to a communal meal held in conjunction with a Majlis Khatam al-Quran, a ceremony to mark the completion of Quranic recitation.
The event took place at a religious school near a surau where she teaches.
"I have been teaching tuition at a sekolah agama near the surau for the past few months. Yesterday, during the Majlis Khatam al-Quran at the surau, I let my students enjoy the meal prepared for the event.
"To my surprise, the elders called me over, showed me respect as a teacher, and invited me to dine with them. At that moment, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude.
"What a beautiful country we live in, where despite our different cultures, the respect we show one another is truly irreplaceable," she wrote in the caption.
The teacher was seen holding a plate of rice with chicken curry and slices of watermelon.
The post quickly gained traction online, with many Malaysians applauding the community's warmth and gesture of inclusion.
Social media users praised the moment as a reflection of the country's enduring multicultural harmony and the deep respect shown towards educators.
