‘It's like the Souness revolution' – delighted Rangers fans flock to Ibrox to celebrate takeover news

RANGERS have announced the long-awaited takeover by San Francisco 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh has now been officially sealed.
It was revealed that the group will invest £20million into the Rangers playing squad over the summer, with the consortium securing 51 per cent of the Ibrox club.

Fans flocked to Ibrox when the news broke that the takeover has finally been completed, with most in a jubilant mood.
Jimmy Stewart, 71, from Clydebank said: "I'm absolutely ecstatic, it's been dragging on and dragging on.
"The priority is to get a bit of silverware next season.
"We're going to the pub to celebrate."
Ian Munro, 60, a shop worker from Inverness, said: "It's a seismic change.
"It's similar to when Graeme Souness took over in 1986.
"The £20million will be money well spent.
"Silverware is achievable but getting to the Champions League is the aim.
"Overall it's a good day for Rangers."
James Parker from Bolton pleaded to the new ownership: "Don't leave the fans in the dark, keep us filled in on everything that is going on.

"I'm hoping it's a new future for us, for the people that surround the club, for the supporters especially.
"Now is the time to get in there and start again!"
Graham Caldwell, 63, was born a stone's throw from Ibrox but visited the stadium from his home in Blackpool, Lancs yesterday.
The heating engineer said: "£20million is nowhere near enough, we have to buy, but not stupid money."
When asked about the clubs' priorities, he didn't hold back, saying: "Centre-back, left-back, right-back, and a goalscorer."
April Harper, 60, from Lambhill said: "As long as they put the money into the stadium and the players, I think Rangers will come back again.
"We need the players, we need Scottish players that know what it means to the club, what it means to the fans.
"I'd take Souness back [as manager] he might be alright, I think Souness would do well, I think he would kick their backsides.
"I don't think there has been a fight in the team."
Jack Robertson, 27 came dressed for the occasion with a Stars and Stripes - and a Make Rangers Great Again cap modelled on Donald Trump's rallying call.
The car repair worker, from Garthamlock, Glasgow, said: "It's about time, as everyone will know we have had a bit of a hard time in the past since about 2012, finally a bit of good news.
"The team needs a lot of work, I think £20million, we're not going to say no, but it's definitely a good starting point.
"This league is winnable, I don't think that they're [Celtic] not catchable, we beat them more than they beat us.
"We need to get consistency, and be able to beat St Mirren!"
