Kaizer Chiefs to make surprise signing from Chippa?

Kaizer Chiefs to add a new central defender from Chippa United? While the 25-year-old Makhele is a top central defender, it is rather unexpected of Amakhosi to sign a Lesotho international when the club is scrapping for limited foreign spots ahead of the June transfer window. According to Soccer Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs are targeting Makhele. 'As much as they are looking at the attacking department, they also want to strengthen the defence as they haven't yet replaced TT (Ditlhokwe) and they are also looking at releasing other defenders as well,' a source told the outlet. 'So they have been monitoring Thabo Makhele from Chippa United. He is experienced and very solid. He would really help the team if they are to fight for trophies next season and as they will be playing in Africa. So that's one of the reasons they have been monitoring and have enquired about him,' the source added on Soccer Laduma . An additional source said: 'They are looking at revamping and overhauling the squad next season. It's believed that the coach wants to build a squad which will be like his own with the players he is recommending. So with them targeting Thabo Makhele they are also looking at releasing some as well,' he concluded. Kaizer Chiefs to raid Chippa United for star

Kaizer Chiefs set to raid Chippa United for star defender in major squad overhaul. The Glamour Boys are gearing up for a major defensive shake-up at the end of the season, targeting fresh talent to strengthen their backline, and Chippa United's standout central defender Thabo Makhele has landed firmly on their radar. After a turbulent campaign where Amakhosi already bolstered their defense with new signings, the club is preparing for another wave of changes. Chiefs insiders have confirmed that management intends to offload several current defenders while actively pursuing key reinforcements to stabilize the squad ahead of next season. Among the top targets is 30-year-old Lesotho international Thabo Makhele, a defensive rock for Chippa United throughout the 2024/2025 season. Chiefs have reportedly monitored Makhele closely and initiated contact with Chippa to explore the possibility of securing his services. 'As much as they are looking at the attacking department, they also want to strengthen the defence as they haven't yet replaced TT (Ditlhokwe) and they are also looking at releasing other defenders as well. So they have been monitoring Thabo Makhele from Chippa United. He is experienced and very solid. He would really help the team if they are to fight for trophies next season and as they will be playing in Africa. So that's one of the reasons they have been monitoring and have enquired about him,' the source revealed. Makhele has delivered rock-solid performances across 26 matches in all competitions this season. Which proves his adaptability under multiple coaching changes at Chippa. His resilience and consistency have not gone unnoticed at Naturena. This move signals a deeper transformation within the Chiefs' setup. Sources close to the club suggest that head coach Nasreddine Nabi is driving the overhaul to shape a squad that reflects his tactical vision. 'They are looking at revamping and overhauling the squad next season. It's believed that the coach wants to build a squad which will be like his own with the players he is recommending. So with them targeting Thabo Makhele they are also looking at releasing some as well,' another insider explained. As Kaizer Chiefs prepare for next season, the technical team views Makhele's experience as a vital asset. With trophies in sight and pressure mounting, the club is betting on battle-tested players who can deliver immediately. Fans can expect a flurry of moves once the transfer window opens. But the pursuit of Thabo Makhele may be the clearest sign yet that Amakhosi are serious about returning to the top. Stay tuned with The South African as Kaizer Chiefs set to raid Chippa United for star. Will Makhele be the kind of signing that the supporters would want? Four Free State warders arrested in connection with inmate's death

Four prison warders were arrested at the Mangaung Correctional Facility on Tuesday evening. Their arrests follow the death of an inmate at the facility. The inmate's death was initially reported as due to natural causes. Four prison warders have been arrested in connection with the death of an inmate at a Free State correctional facility. "On Wednesday, 12 March, police were notified of the death of 37-year-old Mpho Mkhumbeni, an inmate at Mangaung Correctional Facility in Bloemfontein. At the time, the death was believed to be due to natural causes, and an inquest docket was opened for further investigations," police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said. However, post-mortem results indicated that Mkhumbeni had not died of natural causes. "These findings led investigators to change the inquest docket to a murder investigation. Further investigations by the Bloemspruit police on the evening of Tuesday, 22 April, resulted in the arrest of four warders, aged between 34 and 50, for the alleged murder of the inmate," Makhele added. Makhele said the investigation was ongoing. #sapsFS #SAPS Bloemspruit has on 22/04 arrested four prison warders in connection with the death of an Wednesday, 12 /03, police were notified of the death of 37yr-old inmate at Mangaung correctional facility in Bloemfontein. News24 previously reported that the national commissioner of the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), Makgothi Samuel Thobakgale, had given an assurance that an escape similar to that of Bester would not occur again. The Public Protector launched an investigation in March 2023 after receiving a complaint from a member of the public that the DCS had failed the public in its handling of the escape. The report by the Public Protector, according to GroundUp, concluded that the conduct of two DCS officials, Roseline Phahlane and Chris Mahonono, "constitutes improper conduct as contemplated in terms of Section 182(1)(a) of the Constitution and amounts to undue delay as envisaged in Section 6(4)(a)(ii) of the Public Protector Act".
