All-Ireland SFC permutations: Who needs what heading into final round?

The Central Competitions Control Committee will meet on Tuesday to decide the neutral venues for the final round of the All-Ireland SFC series. Here are some of the permutations for the groups going into that third round on June 14 and 15: Group 1. With all four teams on two points, everything is on the line in the final round. Mayo know a defeat to Donegal will put them in jeopardy of going out of the championship. They would then require Cavan to beat Tyrone and therefore finish ahead of Malachy O'Rourke's side on the head-to-head differential. Group 2. Kerry and Meath have qualified for the knock-out stages and The Kingdom know a draw against The Royals the weekend after next will be good enough for them to top the table. Cork need to beat Roscommon to leapfrog Davy Burke's men and lift themselves from the foot of the table. Group 3. The winners of Down and Monaghan will earn a last-eight spot with the losers guaranteed the consolation of a last 12 place. A draw will do Down as they are currently in No1 position based on score difference. A point for Louth against Clare will see the Leinster runners-up through to the preliminary quarter-finals. Group 4. Armagh have topped the group of death yet again and can afford to take the game against Galway easy, knowing their top spot is secured. Galway will be hoping they take a casual approach to it. Derry need to beat Dublin to qualify ahead of them.

Having struggled to nail down a regular starting role in recent seasons, McShane has now opted to step away from inter-county football for the remainder of the year. The four group winners advance directly to the All-Ireland quarter-finals. Preliminary quarter-finals are contested by the teams who finish second and third. Meanwhile, Westmeath's bid to become the first team to win the Tailteann Cup twice will see them face Limerick, Antrim and London. The second-tier competition begins on May 10-11.
