At a recent promotional event in Kochi for the upcoming big-budget Telugu film 'Kannappa', Malayalam superstar Mohanlal lauded the Telugu film industry, calling it the 'biggest in India.
'
He attributed its remarkable success rate to the unwavering passion and support shown by Telugu audiences. 'Almost 99% of their films don't fail,' Mohanlal said, adding, 'That's because the audience there respects cinema immensely and they try in every possible way to make a film successful.'
Kannappa is a Pan-Indian effort
Mohanlal, who also plays a role in 'Kannappa', shed light on the scale and ambition of the film.
'It's a huge film coming from such an industry. It has been planned over many years,' he said. He noted that the shooting took place in New Zealand, with the crew travelling there multiple times, underscoring the commitment and resources invested in the project.

'Let that film be a success'
As 'Kannappa' gears up for its multilingual release, Mohanlal urged audiences to support the film wholeheartedly. 'It is now being dubbed into Malayalam. It is our responsibility to make a film successful. Let that happen. May Lord Shiva's blessings be upon Kannappa,' he said.
Netizens react to Mohanlal's statement - Disappointing
Earlier in a promotional interview, Mohanlal had said that majority of the Telugu audiences support their film and that's the reason why those films turn out to be successful.
What irked the Malayalali audiences was that, Mohanlal's statements were an indirect hit at them, meaning that the Kerala audiences were not supporting the film industry.
Now with this new statement, the Reddit users have shared their reactions. One comment read, "That's exactly the reason Malayalam industry consistently produces better quality movies. Our filmmakers know that the audience can't be taken for granted." Another one commented, "This statement after he got two biggest hits of his career this year from Malayalam is truly disappointing. He should check the collection of his so called pan Indian movie Empuraan's telugu and tamil dub collections as well.
99% hit rate in telugu is just another delulu someone has instilled in his mind."
