Sports Minister expects things to go smoothly for Malaysia Cup final in Bukit Jalil
GEORGE TOWN: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh ( pic ) hopes the Malaysia Cup Final between Johor Darul Ta'zim and Sri Pahang will go smoothly tonight (April 26).
Yeoh said she believes football fans are used to the Malaysia Cup being held and it will go on smoothly.
"I think football fans are used to events like this.
"I expect things to go on smoothly at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
"We have the support and cooperation of the police and I am confident that it will go on well with the support of the football fans from Johor and Pahang," she said during a press conference after the launch of the first Penang Rowing Beach Sprint Coastal Championship 2025 held at the Penang Chinese Swimming Club in Tanjung Bungah on Saturday (April 26).
She was responding to a question about the Malaysia Cup Finals on Saturday (April 26).
When asked to comment about the Sudirman Cup, Yeoh said her advice was to play wholeheartedly as a team.
"Cooperation as a team is an important element in raising the prestige of the national badminton team to a higher level.
"Malaysia has a talented line-up of players in all categories and needs to harness that potential by focusing on team spirit to face the Sudirman Cup.
"We have talent in all categories and I believe that if we are focused and play as a team, I am sure they will succeed," she said.
She said that when it comes to Malaysian sports fans, they only want to see our athletes give their best.
"As long as you go out there and you play your best no matter what the medal, fans will appreciate the sportsmanship.
"That is the most important part, go and play your heart out as a team," she said.
The Sudirman Cup will be held from April 27 to May 4 this year.
